The Arabic version of the site has already been updated with a new look.
The authority recently decided to update and upgrade the site. The address of the site will remain the same. According to the authority, the upgrading work has started and will finish within ten days.
A spokesperson in the office of the authority's undersecretary told Gulf News: "All kinds of information about the UAE will be available on the site."
She said the authority will also be working at the Ministry of Finance for the full implementation of e-Government in the country.
The GIA was established under Federal Law No 3 of 1982 on the Establishment of the General Information Authority in May 1982. It was known at that time as the National Computer Centre.
The most important services provided by the GIA include information technology consultancy, study, training and technical support services for all ministries and government institutions.
According to the website, these include 172 studies for most ministries and government institutions at the federal and local levels.
"The GIA has analysed, designed and carried out 104 computer systems and applications. Some of these systems and applications contain a number of sub- systems."
