RD Director-General Satit Rungkasiri said that the department has been piloted the app and is now confident that the new mobile service is user-friendly, fast, and convenient for users. “Moreover, the app can facilitate high-security financial transactions with banks via mobile phones.”

Thailand has made good progress in getting its Smart Thailand IT roadmap off the ground, but it will face challenges in getting civil servants to use the government cloud (G-Cloud), citizens to embrace e-government initiatives, and having enough tech professionals to develop the country's infrastructure.

Dr Sak Segkhoonthod, President and CEO of the EGA announced that the EGA’s focus in 2013 will be to provide more Software as a Service (SaaS), creating a Government Application Centre (GAC), and pushing forward Open Government IT project to further integrate data and services for citizens, and lastly implementing ‘Smart Box’ programme to connect with and deliver government services for remote communities.
Following last week’s task given by the Thai Prime Minister over the possibility of integrating CCTVs networks nationwide to boots security operations, narcotic solution, and traffic control, the ICT Minister told reporters that the ministry is likely to suggest the use of smart analytic software to connect all CCTVs networks owned by different agencies via data centre.

ICT Minister Group Captain Anudith Nakornthap said that the expansion of Free Wi-Fi is part of the move to push forward Smart Thailand project to provide the public an access to the internet, as well as a preparation of the country’s ICT network to welcome the ASEAN Economic Community (AEC) in 2015.
