
Direct Pay Online Group has been recognized as one of the best payment platforms in Africa by the Payment Card Industry Data Security Standard.
The award comes after the successful completion of comprehensive audits in the Group’s global headquarters and all its other markets including Rwanda, Kenya, Tanzania, Uganda, Ethiopia, Namibia, Nigeria, Botswana, Ghana, Zambia, Malawi and Zimbabwe.

E-procurement system - Umucyo
AOS Ltd, a Rwandan Information Technology Systems Integrator, has developed an electronic procurement system for the Government of Rwanda. Dubbed ‘Umucyo’ (transparency). The system was developed in collaboration with the Ministry of Finance and Economic planning and the Rwanda Public Procurement Authority (RPPA} to automate the public procurement process and enable the interactions of Government to Business entities (G2B).

Last week’s “Transform Africa Summit,” held in Kigali, pledged to bolster the ICT sector whose aim is to achieve ‘smart cities’ across the continent.
On this note, President Paul Kagame, in his speech, pointed out two fundamental things, among others: the need for political will to enable the implementation of digital integration and rollout of initiatives; and the need to engage in Public-Private Partnerships (PPPs) to invest in ICT projects.

On July 11, 2017, Rwanda was ranked among top 10 countries in sub-Saharan Africa that are on progress towards attaining the UN-backed Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) by 2030 while, on July 13, 2017, the country received the 'Top Ten Tech Solutions Award' for innovation of Integrated Electronic Case Management System (IECMS). As posted on the Ministry of Justice website, this award is typically given to a high-performing court that engages many tools, especially ICT, to operate efficiently and effectively in conducting the business of the judiciary.

The Government of Rwanda and Mastercard will work together on developing digital platforms to meet the needs of the country’s citizens and work towards Rwanda’s goal of promoting a cashless society.
According to FinScope 2016, 68% of adults in Rwanda have/use formal financial products/ services.
