DubaiNow — an app for all city services — aims to offer citizens and residents a one-stop-shop experience for all government interactions.

The acceleration of digital services in Dubai is evident as the outbreak of Covid-19 has compelled residents to switch more to online services. And Smart Dubai’s popular application, DubaiNow, is gaining popularity as registered users have soared to 515,000, said Wesam Lootah, CEO of the Smart Dubai Government Establishment.

Dubai's Transport Department is working on a project to ensure more security for the locals. They are almost ready to introduce the facial recognition feature on the public transport. Obaid al-Hathboor, director of Dubai's Transport Security Department, said, the facial recognition technology is highly effective in identifying suspicious and wanted people. He added the governance is aiming at improved performance with current capabilities, ensuring a high level of security in metro stations and other transport sectors.

The country is hosting the global Expo exhibition from October 1, 2021 to March 31, 2022. This new securtiy feature is all set to bring up before the global expo exhibition hosted by Dubai. This is not the first time the AI is used in Dubai Public Transport. Dubai international airport is being used this feature for the last few months as a part of the process of becoming a "smart city" in the Middle East.

Dubai’s Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) has added 22 new services all relating to the toll gates system, Salik, in a recent update to Dubai Drive app. The step is part of RTA’s efforts to improve its services and make them more accessible to customers by saving their time and effort. It also supports the Dubai Government digitisation and improving customers experience strategies.

“The new batch of services added to Dubai Drive app encompasses 9 main services and 13 subsidiary ones. The package includes a dashboard recapping the latest activities of the account such as the existing balance, top-up of Salik account, offence management, and the removal/addition of vehicles without visiting service centres or contacting Salik Call Centre,” said Eng. Maitha bin Adai, CEO of Traffic and Roads Agency, RTA.

Dubai is all set to introduce the feature of facial recognition system on public transport to assure more security for the locals, the officials announced on Sunday.

"This technology has proven its effectiveness to identify suspicious and wanted people," said Obaid al-Hathboor, director of Dubai's Transport Security Department.

The World Future Energy Summit, WFES, 2021, will feature the highly anticipated Smart Cities Expo & Forum bringing the cities of the future to life.

WFES, organised by Reed Exhibitions, will be held at the Abu Dhabi National Exhibition Centre from April 5 to 7, 2021.
