a fast-growing UAE-based geospatial, data analytics and AI company, is set to showcase its smart city solutions at a key event in Abu Dhabi which will be attended by 400 specialists, experts, strategists and policy makers.

The 2nd Abu Dhabi Smart City Summit beginning tomorrow (November 23), bringing together more than 25 local and federal government agencies, and 400 specialists, experts, officials, leaders, strategists and policy makers, as well as governmental and private organisations.

The World Government Summit Foundation has launched a new report entitled “Integrating Security Solutions into Smart Cities Design… How to Build a Safe Smart City in a Volatile Cyber World”, as part of its series of knowledge reports to support governments in anticipating the future of cities and enhancing their security by developing and innovating new solutions.

The report, which was launched in partnership with global consulting firm “Ernst & Young” (EY), in conjunction with World Cities Day on October 31, indicated that cities will witness radical changes by 2050, by increasing their population by up to 70%.

Officials in international technology companies confirmed that the UAE Programming Day, which is part of the National Program for Programmers launched by His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, in July 2021, is the culmination of the digital transformation process in the UAE. The UAE, and confirms its commitment and unremitting efforts to build a modern digital economy and support technical innovation.

International companies participating in the National Program for Programmers emphasized their continued investment in their educational and training programs to support national visions of digital innovation, support young skills in programming sciences, and continue to support digital transformation in public and private sector companies.

Abu Dhabi has been ranked the “Smartest City in the MENA Region” for the second consecutive year in the annual IMD-SUTD Smart City Index (SCI) released today in collaboration between the IMD (Institute for Management Development) World Competitiveness Center and the Singapore University of Technology and Design (SUTD).

According to the new report, Abu Dhabi has risen 14 places to 28th in the global smart cities ranking. Almost 15,000 city dwellers were surveyed in 118 cities around the world. They were asked about the performance of their respective cities in terms of health and safety, mobility, activities, work and school, and governance.

The Department of Municipalities and Transport (DMT) and Microsoft have announced a new collaboration with Microsoft-UAE during GITEX 2021 Technology Week, around the SMART City framework, to facilitate several key initiatives in the Emirate of Abu Dhabi.

The Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) enables DMT and Microsoft to work together to realise the Department's ambition to make Abu Dhabi one of the world smartest cities by leveraging Microsoft’s local data centres, which offer enterprise-class performance, agility, security and privacy measures. Microsoft is bringing its extensive global knowledge and experience with its wide selection of innovative solutions to continue its overall contribution to the UAE’s digitisation journey.
