Zain Bahrain, a leading telecommunications company in the kingdom, said it has implemented a new registration process for postpaid and prepaid mobile services applications, in accordance with the latest regulation issued by the Telecommunication Regulatory Authority (TRA).

The new SIM-card enabled telecommunications services registration process has come into force starting from July 12, according to Zain.

Bahrain operator Batelco says it will implement new registration rules for postpaid and prepaid mobile services from 12 July. The Bahrain Telecommunications Regulatory Authority (TRA) has introduced new regulations governing the registration of sim-card enabled devices for all of Bahrain’s mobile operators including Batelco, the operator said in a statement said. The regulations state that all individuals as well as commercial and government organisations applying for new mobile services (whether postpaid and/or prepaid lines) must provide documentation as outlined by the TRA.

Bahrain’s Information & eGovernment Authority (iGA) will begin the migration of ten government websites as a trial of Cloud Computing - developed by Amazon Web Services (AWS). The trial is intended to complete full migration during one year. This follows an agreement with technology investment firm C5 Capital.

The websites are those of the Ministry of Justice & Islamic Affairs, Ministry of Health, Central Bank of Bahrain, National Oil & Gas Authority, Survey & Land Registration Bureau, Ministry of Works, Municipalities Affairs and Urban Planning, Ministry of Transportations & Telecommunication, Public Prosecution; Capital Governorate and the Northern Area Municipality.

Deputy Premier, HH Shaikh Mohammed bin Mubarak Al Khalifa chaired the meeting of the High Information and Communication Committee, at the Gudaibiya Palace today.

Deputy Premier, HH Shaikh Ali bin Khalifa Al Khalifa, and Deputy Premier, Deputy Premier Shaikh Khalid bin Abdulla Al Khalifa, and committee members attended the meeting.

e-Government CEO Mohammed Ali Al Qaed today discussed with Thai Ambassador to Bahrain, Chayapan Bamrungphong, ways to promote cooperation in the field of IT and e-Government.

The two sides also discussed creating new joint venture investment opportunities in various areas.
