Shaikh Khalid bin Abdullah Al Khalifa, Deputy Premier and Chairman of Ministerial Committee for Urbanisation and Infrastructure launched the updated Phase II of the unified "Permit" licensing system in the presence of ministers, officials and members of the committee.

Launched at the directives of His Royal Highness Prince Khalifa bin Salman Al Khalifa the Prime Minister and with support and follow-up of His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, Crown Prince, Deputy Supreme Commander and First Deputy Prime Minister, the 'Permit' licensing system links the various ministries and directorates and had been launched by the Informatics and e-Government Authority in 2013 aimed to ensure the policy of governance, transparency adopted by the government in all of its transactions positions the Kingdom of Bahrain on the right track of sustainable economic development through development of policies and regulations capable of accomplishing top-notch quality and efficiency.

Shura Council and Parliament Affairs Minister Ghanim bin Fadhul Al Buainain met CEO of Informatics and e-Government Organisation, Mohammed bin Ali Al Qaed.

The meeting reviewed the advanced stages of the "Zajil" e-correspondence system which after it was officially approved by the Ministry resulted in the achievement of considerable progress in speeding up the exchange and follow up of e-correspondence.

The Ministry of Works, Municipalities Affairs and Urban Planning has unveiled an ambitious plan to go hi-tech.

The ministry is in the process of turning fully digital, benefiting from the global technological strides in line with the Government Action Plan (GAP) and the Bahrain Economic Vision 2030.

A total of 3,855 users accessed 12 electronic services of Bahrain’s Ministry of Works, Municipalities Affairs and Urban Planning (MoW) during the third quarter of 2016, a top official said.

The month of August witnessed the highest number of users (1,573), followed by September with 1,203 users, and then July with 1,079 users, added Hisham Sater, IT director at the ministry.

Housing Minister Bassim bin Yaqoub Al Hamer has affirmed that the kingdom has made advanced strides at the level of sustainable development following its success in upgrading all aspects of life and improving the living conditions of the citizens through landmark achievements attained thanks to the efforts of the political leadership.

Speaking during a special session on "Smart Cities", held on the sidelines of the United Nations (UN) Third Habit Conference in the Ecuadorian city of Quito, the minister added that Bahrain had made pioneering steps in providing innovative solutions to cope with the increasing demand for housing through a package of unconventional solutions such as enhancing cooperation with the private sector and developing long-term programmes, attributing the successes to the unlimited support of the leadership.
