In a special effort to involve the kingdom's private sector in its ongoing e-tendering system, the Tender Board has joined hands with the Labour Fund (LF) to train owners and employees from the private sector on navigating the e-Tendering process.

The two organisations signed a milestone memorandum of understanding (MoU) yesterday under which 300 companies will receive training on using the e-Tendering system to capture a bigger share of government contracts.

Bahrain is offering e-Tendering tips to private companies to enable them to capture a bigger share of government contracts.

More than 300 companies are to be trained in using the online system, as part of the first batch.

This follows the signing of a memorandum of understanding by the Tender Board and the Labour Fund to train owners and employees from the private sector on navigating the e-Tendering process.

The Economic Development Board (EDB) has launched two new websites, Bahrain.com and Bahrainfs.com, as part of the Business Friendly Bahrain promotional campaign to highlight the investment opportunities in the kingdom.

"We created these websites as an effective medium to reach a large audience. This will be the first point of entry for anyone requiring any information on Bahrain," said EDB chief executive Shaikh Mohammed bin Isa Al Khalifa.

Electronic visa services will soon be available in Bahrain 24 hours a day, seven days a week, it was revealed yesterday.

The new service will avoid paperwork, queues and delays, said Interior Ministry's undersecretary for Nationality, Passports and Residence Shaikh Rashid bin Khalifa Al Khalifa.

He was speaking at the launch of the electronic no-objection certificate (NOC) service for visit visas, at a workshop organised by the eGovernment Agency, at the Crowne Plaza's Bahrain Conference Centre.

The Works Ministry yesterday launched the sanitary complaints e-service, as part of its online services available on the e-government portal.

These are some of the first services made available online by the ministry.

Other services will be deployed on the e-government portal shortly as part of the ministry's commitment to provide world-class e-services to Bahrain's residents, said Works Ministry information technology director Hisham Sater.
