The Works Ministry yesterday launched the sanitary complaints e-service, as part of its online services available on the e-government portal.

These are some of the first services made available online by the ministry.

Other services will be deployed on the e-government portal shortly as part of the ministry's commitment to provide world-class e-services to Bahrain's residents, said Works Ministry information technology director Hisham Sater.

The new service is aligned with the e-Government Strategy, which aims toward a better life by providing comprehensive, accurate and timely services and information, he added.

Complaints

It will allow residents, municipalities and other governmental bodies to submit sewage related complaints to the Sanitary Engineering Operations and Maintenance Directorate (SEOMD) and access responses via the ministry's e-service on the e-Government portal.

The ministry is currently working on a five-year strategic information systems plan to deploy more public infrastructure e-services on the e-government portal in the near future, said Mr Sater.

It has developed a world-class ICT infrastructure, which is e-ready, fully secure and based on latest standards, he added.

The e-government portal was created in May last year to give individuals and businesses an additional channel of access to various government services.

"This co-operation of ministries and government bodies will gradually transform Bahrain into an e-government leader that is committed to using innovative technologies to provide quality and value to our customers," said e-Government Agency marketing and awareness adviser Isa Abdulrahman.
