The Bahrain e-Government portal is gaining popularity as on an average fees worth BD130,000 are paid every month through the web site.

The Executive Chairman of the e-Government Authority Mohammed Al Qaed told a Press conference on Saturday that an average of 30,000 individuals visit the portal every day and 500,000 every month and said that the portal would offer more services soon.

The Press conference was held to announce the signing of a memorandum of understanding by the authority, the Bahrain Society of Engineers and the Bahrain IT Society for organising and managing the Bahrain International e-government Forum (BIEF).

The event will be held from May 19 to 21 at the Bahrain International Exhibition Centre, under the patronage of Deputy Prime Minister and Chairman of the Supreme Committee for IT and Communication Shaikh Mohammed bin Mubarak Al Khalifa, to mark the first anniversary of the launch of the e-government.

The forum aims to promote a positive dialogue among those working in the e-governments sector.

Top international e-government experiences and technical solutions that could be applied to reach excellence in this domain will be discussed, he added. The forum will bring together heads of e-governments in the Gulf region and those working in e-governments on regional and international levels, Al Qaed said.
