
Municipalities Affairs and Agriculture Minister Wael Al Mubarak met Bahrain Smart City Society (BSCS) chairwoman Dr Shaikha Fay bint Abdulla Al Khalifa and members of the society. Municipalities Affairs Under-Secretary Shaikh Mohammed bin Ahmed Al Khalifa attended the meeting.
The minister emphasised the ministry’s commitment to further enhancing co-operation and co-ordination with civil society organisations and specialised entities to support the exchange of expertise and ideas and contribute to the development of initiatives and projects that support municipal and agricultural services.

The key initiatives taken by the Kingdom of Bahrain on digital transformation journey have enhanced the efficiency of government services while strengthening the country’s position in relevant international digital government indices, said a top government official at the ongoing Bahrain Smart Cities Summit 2026.
These achievements have been realised in line with the vision of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa, and the directives of His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the Crown Prince and Prime Minister, which have contributed to building an advanced integrated national digital ecosystem that supports sustainable development,” remarked Ali Abdulaziz Al Janahi, the Deputy Chief Executive for eTransformation at the Information & eGovernment Authority (iGA).

Bahrain’s urban resilience framework has been praised following recent regional attacks, with an expert highlighting how smart cities are becoming the frontline in responding to modern crises.
Bahrain Smart City Society President Dr Shaikha Fay bint Abdulla bin Mohammed Al Khalifa noted that in a world undergoing rapid geopolitical transformations, cities have become the arena in which nations’ resilience is tested – not only militarily, but also economically, environmentally, and socially.

Digital transformation efforts aim to improve efficiency, reduce processing time and simplify access to services.
As part of ongoing government efforts to enhance services and redesign procedures, Bahrain has developed 83 government services across 17 entities between January 15 and June 18, 2026.
The improvements are part of plans to raise the quality of government services and strengthen institutional efficiency by simplifying procedures and improving the user experience.

Beyon’s vision for a cutting-edge digital and technological hub is moving forward with the official appointment of AECOM as the master planner of the Beyon Digital City project. The appointment marks a key milestone in the development of this transformative initiative, which aims to establish a premier technology and innovation ecosystem in the Hamala area.
The award signing ceremony was held at Beyon’s headquarters and attended by Andrew Kvaalseth, Beyon CEO, Faisal Al Jalahma, Chairman of the Digital City Development Company, Eng. Ahmed Al-Khayat, CEO of Bahrain’s UPDA (Urban Planning and Development Authority), and David Border, AECOM’s Head of Buildings + Places in Bahrain.
