Jabalpur has been selected among the 18 cities, in the national-level competition "CITIIS 2.0 Challenge," organized for the country's top 100 smart cities. Only two cities from Madhya Pradesh are chosen in this challenge. On this significant success, Mayor Jagat Bahadur Singh and Municipal Commissioner Preeti Yadav have congratulated the citizens, as well as the nodal officer Sambhav Ayachi and other team members for their cleanliness campaign. Singh said the " CITIIS 2.0 Challenge," organized at the national level, aimed to select 18 cities from across the country. He said all cities were required to prepare and submit their proposals on the theme of Integrated Solid Waste Management by January 15, 2024. A total of 84 cities submitted their proposals.

The Thiruvananthapuram city Corporation has been chosen for the Smart City 2.0, a follow-up to the Union government’s urban improvement scheme. According to a statement from Mayor Arya Rajendran, a total of 36 cities which were part of Smart City 1.0 were shortlisted, from which 18 cities were finally chosen for the scheme based on an interview conducted last month.

For the Thiruvananthapuram Corporation, the Mayor, the Secretary and the Smart City CEO had attended the interview. The Corporation was chosen for the Smart City project in 2017. Projects worth ₹1,135 crore are currently being implemented under the scheme. For Smart City 2.0, the funding will primarily for waste management projects.

No development or beautification work in Jammu and Kashmir will now be taken up under the Smart City project till the formation of the new government at the Centre, which will be formed after the 2024 Lok Sabha elections, sources said.

Varanasi, the Lok Sabha constituency of Prime Minister Narendra Modi is set to have a digital twin, a three-dimensional urban digital map, which is expected to accelerate the developmental works in the ancient city.

Shakambhari Nandan Sonthalia, Chief Public Relations Officer of Varanasi Smart City, said that the state government is going to make a digital replica of Kashi soon. The project was recently inaugurated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi during his visit to Varanasi.
