These projects, ranging from major drinking water augmentation schemes to the rehabilitation of the underground drainage (UGD) network, aim to bolster the city's infrastructure, with the full completion expected by June 2024.
Revolutionizing Urban Infrastructure
Among the completed projects are multi-level car parking (MLCP) facilities, renovated fish markets, and refurbished public parks, significantly enhancing the city's urban landscape. Additionally, the drinking water projects are set to increase supply by an additional 30 MLD for core city areas, focusing on renovating existing facilities and constructing new storage capacities. This initiative is crucial for ensuring water availability, especially during peak summer months, with work on new surface-level water tanks and the replacement of old motors underway.
Addressing Sewage Challenges
The UGD rehabilitation project, a critical component of the Smart Cities Mission, is nearing completion. This project aims to alleviate frequent sewer clogging issues in old city areas by extending the sewage network and improving maintenance facilities.
