Oman has announced the construction of a new city named Sultan Haitham City in the Wilayat of A’Seeb in Muscat, Oman News Agency (ONA) reported.
Oman’s Sultan Haitham bin Tariq presided over the inauguration ceremony of the future smart city at Al Baraka Palace on May 31.

Omani companies HMR Consultants and TRM Engineering Consultants will offer their expertise in local environment and traffic standards
A consortium of international consultants has been appointed by the Ministry of Housing and Urban Planning to design the master plan of the Salalah Smart City project.
Leading the consortium is the engineering consultancy firm F&M Middle East, with Cundall – a London based company with infrastructural strategic vision, MIC-HUB – a Milan based company well versed in transportation and mobility in diverse urban settings, Cavendish Maxwell – a Dubai/Muscat based company with knowledge of marketing and feasibility studies, and Skyne – a Dubai based branding company. Omani companies HMR Consultants and TRM Engineering Consultants will offer their expertise in local environment and traffic standards, while Milcris Oman will provide cost consultancy expertise.

The South Al Sharqiyah Governorate signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Omantel in the field of communications, which includes exchange of experiences in related fields, including the support and implementation of the digital transformation programme in the Governorate.
The MoU was signed by Dr Yahya bin Badr al Ma'awali, Governor South Al Sharqiyah and Talal bin Said al Maamari, CEO of Omantel.

A consortium of international consultants has announced the launch of work on a detailed masterplan and design of the Salalah Smart City project on behalf of the Omani Ministry of Housing and Urban Planning.
Leading the consortium is leading multi-disciplinary engineering consultancy firm F&M Middle East, which has tied up with international architecture and design firm Sasaki (for the master-planning components), mobility planning and infrastructure design firm MIC-HUB (for mobility aspects), and UK-based multidisciplinary engineering firm Cundall (for infrastructure and environmental elements).
