For the final phase of the Sultan Qaboos Award for Excellence in e-government 2016, the Information Technology Authority (ITA) will be organising a function at the Sultan Qaboos University Cultural Centre, Grand Hall on December 6.

The function will be organised under the patronage of Dr. Abdul Munim bin Mansour Al Hasani, Minister of Information.

n Information Technology Authority (ITA) specialist said Oman’s plan for e-government is being held back by lack of coordination among entities, at an IT forum recently.

Abdulaziz al Kharusi, director general of e-services was speaking at the IT Forum 2016, organised by International Data Corporation (IDC) in partnership with ITA and e.oman.

Bank Muscat, the flagship financial services provider in the sultanate, in line with its ‘Let’s Do More’ vision and commitment to innovation in banking service excellence, has stepped up the distribution of Chip and PIN debit cards to customers across the sultanate.

Adding convenience for customers to exchange the old debit card with the Chip and PIN card, select branches across the sultanate are open from 8am to 6pm on weekdays and from 9am to 1pm on Saturdays. Customers can visit these branches at their convenience to collect the new card.

Smart cities, drones, robots, cloud services, small-medium start-ups and 3D printers ruled the 36th edition of GITEX Dubai that concluded recently at the Dubai World Trade Centre.

The five-day technology event which was attended by students, tech-enthusiasts, businessmen and entrepreneurs was inaugurated by Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammad bin Rashid al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai and chairman of Dubai Executive Council.

The portal provided by the Ministry of Manpower, where nationals can apply for private sectors jobs has been updated.

The portal, now allows job seekers to find vacancies available in the private sector.

A job seeker can now benefit from the new update as it allows the user to create a personal folder and add the job vacancies that suit him to his folder. The user can also read the descriptions of all the vacant jobs and follow up with the results of the job interviews.
