The Ministry of Social Development and Omantel have signed an agreement under which Omantel will set up a centre for cloud services for the ministry.

Dr Laila Ahmed Al Najjar, Minister of Social Development and Talal bin Said Al Mamari, CEO, Omantel signed the agreement.

As per the agreement, Omantel will set up an integrated contact centre for cloud communications to provide IT solutions and services within a secure, high-quality, and flexible cloud environment.

Ministry of Defence agencies celebrated the launch of its electronic programmes.

A statement issued by the Oman News Agency said that, on Thursday, the Ministry of Defence at the Ministry of Defence Pension Fund theatre celebrated the launch of a number of electronic programmes under the patronage of His Excellency Dr Mohammed bin Nasser bin Ali Al Zaabi, Secretary-General of the Ministry of Defence.

Partnership comes in line with Oman vision 2040 to achieve smart, sustainable and vibrant cities

Petroleum Development Oman (PDO) has announced that it has joined hands with National Energy Centre, a specialist in Internet of Things (IoT) projects, for the development and implementation of a smart city pilot project in its Ras Al Hamra residential and leisure community.

The sultanate's biggest oil and gas producer, PDO said its collaboration with NEC will help enhance and promote the exchange of expertise in relation to smart cities in areas such as smart water metering, street lighting, urban water management, smart energy metering and irrigation.

Oman Arab Bank in cooperation with the Ministry of Heritage and Tourism has launched a new service through its digital channels. The new development will allow entities in the tourism industry to directly pay their fees to the Ministry’s account.

Khalid Khalaf Al Awfi, Assistant General Manager for Financial & Administrative Affairs, at the Ministry of Heritage and Tourism said, “The Ministry of Heritage and Tourism continuously seeks to facilitate and develop procedures for investors within the tourism and hotel establishments by digitising relevant processes, together with private sector institutions. Through our partnership with Oman Arab Bank, we will see the provision of a suitable technical solution that links the payment of tourism fees via the Bank’s digital platforms, which is also in line with national e-government strategy.”
