  • UAE: IQPC hosts Gov Tech EMEA

    In accordance with the UN and endorsed by Dubai e-Government and the Institute for e-Government of Germany, IQPC is able to bring GOVTech EMEA, a global benchmarking forum with leading e-governments, regional knowledge exchange, and shared learning, to Dubai November 2-5 2008.

    Nine of the world’s top 30 leading E-Governments convene in Dubai, along with 13 regional case studies to excel the development and promote best-practice in E-Government and government modernization in the Middle East, Northern Africa, and Western Asia.

  • UAE: IT authority sets out to update its website

    The General Information Authority (GIA) a federal agency set up to help government institutions with information technology has started updating its website.

    The Arabic version of the site has already been updated with a new look.

    The authority recently decided to update and upgrade the site. The address of the site will remain the same.

  • UAE: Jobs Abu Dhabi helps hire more than 2800 job-seekers

    A survey assessing recruitment through jobs.abudhabi.ae, created by Abu Dhabi Systems & Information Center 'ADSIC', showed that the Emirate of Abu Dhabi witnesses a continuously increasing recruitment rate across all sectors as early as 2009.

    ADSIC's job , designated to help employers and job-seekers meet their mutual job needs, helped more than 2800 UAE nationals and residents find appropriate jobs.

    A four-member delegation from the Government of Jordan, led by Lutfi Abu Hazeem, National Project Coordinator of the Property Tax project, Ministry of Finance in Jordan, visited Dubai eGovernment to study the Dubai experience in delivering public services through electronic channels.
  • UAE: Key Abu Dhabi IT institutions share e-governance expertise with visiting Moroccan delegation

    A Moroccan delegation led by Deputy Minister H.E. Mohammed Abbou visited the UAE General Information Authority (GIA) today (Wednesday, March 18, 2009), to gain valuable insights on the UAE’s efficient adoption of e-Governance. The group also met representatives of the Emirates Identity Authority (EIDA) and visited the Abu Dhabi Systems and Information Centre (ADSIC), the developer of the Abu Dhabi e-Government program, during the Abu Dhabi leg of their UAE tour.

    H.E. Mohammed Abbou’s group was welcomed yesterday in Dubai by H.E. Humaid Mohammed Obeid Al Qattami, UAE Minister of Health, Chairman of the Federal Authority for Government Human Resources (FAGHR), and Chairman of the General Information Authority. The delegation was given a presentation on the activities, specialties and goals of FAGHR at the Al Bustan Rotana Hotel Dubai, after which they proceeded to Dubai eGovernment. They then later joined a luncheon in honour of H.E. Humaid Al Qattami. The group will return to the emirate to visit the Dubai Municipality tomorrow.

  • UAE: Khalifa issues law establishing Abu Dhabi Information and Electronic Systems Centre

    President HH Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan, in his capacity as the Ruler of Abu Dhabi, has issued a law, establishing the Abu Dhabi centre for information and electronic systems.

    The centre will be tasked with the responsibility of developing government strategies in addition to overseeing the Abu Dhabi E-Government programme. The new centre will also develop plans and strategies to protect information systems in government institutions. Raising awareness on the need to adopt the best IT practices shall be one of the tasks of the newly established body.

    The UAE-Korean Knowledge Sharing Seminar concluded its activities today at the Shangri La Hotel, Abu Dhabi.

    Organized by the Abu Dhabi Systems '&' Information Centre (ADSIC), the two-day seminar aimed at promoting cooperation between the UAE and the Republic of South Korea in general and to exchange expertise and knowledge to develop Abu Dhabi's Information Technology and Communication (ICT) sector in particular.

    Ministry of Labour will launch early next year an electronic self-evaluation project.

    In line with its Strategic Plan 2010-12, the project aims to provide distinctive e-services and enhance effective cooperative relationship with the private sector, an official at the ministry was quoted as saying by 'Al Khaleej' newspaper.

    A gross lack of IT security policy leaves Middle Eastern governments and private firms vulnerable to cyber attacks that could potentially wreak havoc on the region's economies, according to the director of a leading German IT supplier.

    "There are no government strategies for IT securities in the Middle East," said Anas Chibib, a managing director of Berlin-based Advanced German Technologies (AGT) at GITEX, the region's largest annual hi-tech trade show taking place this week at the Dubai International Exhibition Center.

    Dubai Landmark rulings and precedents, stipulated by Dubai’s highest court between 1988 and 2009, have become accessible to the public as part of a new e-service launched by Dubai Public Prosecution yesterday.

    All landmark rulings and precedents stipulated by Dubai Cassation Court [since its establishment in 1988] until December 2009 have become available, to the public as well as the judicial industry’s members as part of the new e-service named Mabade’, said Dubai’s Attorney General Essam Eisa Al Humaidan.

  • UAE: Maktoum Bin Mohammed launches Dubai eGovernment's corporate website

    H.H. Sheikh Maktoum Bin Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Deputy Ruler of Dubai and Chairman of Dubai Technology and Media Free Zone Authority, launched the official website of Dubai eGovernment Department, deg.gov.ae, the first day of Gitex Technology Week 2010.

    The website, which was launched by the Department on the sidelines of its participation in Gitex Technology Week, is regarded as the official window of communication with Dubai Government department employees, the media and the public, and is aimed at showcasing the services provided by the Department to boost eTransformation in the emirate.

  • UAE: Micro-chip mapping medical history for residents

    The Ministry of Health is considering distribution of micro-vaults to all residents, which will contain their medical history in a digital format, Khaleej Times has learnt.

    Hospitals or medical practitioners can access and update information on treatment and medication of patients by connecting the micro-vault, which is half the size of a pen, to their computers.

    The UAE will modernise its civil service by updating laws, while simplifying ministerial transactions and upgrading public services.

  • UAE: Ministry launches customer satisfaction survey

    The Ministry of Finance and Industry has launched a customer satisfaction survey in order to gauge its industrial customers' opinion about its various services including the electronically conducted transactions, said Jamal Nasser Lutah, assistant undersecretary for industrial affairs.

    "We are interested to know our stakeholders' opinions and comments about our services in order to improve them on regular basis," said Jamal Naser Lootah.

  • UAE: Ministry of Agriculture and Fisheries launches 'Ask Agriculture' Web Page

    In a step to enhance its communication between users and its experts, the Ministry of Agriculture and Fisheries (MAF) launched a new webpage 'Ask Agriculture' within its comprehensive electronic information portal UAEAgricent.

    Commenting on the launch, Mr. Ahmed Kulaib Al-Tenaiji, Acting Manager of UAE Agricent, said: 'Ask Agriculture' is a web based application that allows the users of the UAEAgricent web page to ask questions to the experts of the Ministry of Agriculture and Fisheries.'
