A plan to seal a digital cooperation framework between Azerbaijan and Senegal is in the offing as both countries look forward to sharing insights on how to better implement their digital transformation strategies.

During the recent World Telecommunication Development Conference (WTDC-25) in the Azerbaijani capital Baku, Senegal’s Minister of Communication and Digital Economy, Alioune Sall, had discussions with the head of the Innovation and Digital Development Agency (IAAD) of Azerbaijan, Farid Osmanov.

Azerbaijan has discussed the application of artificial intelligence (AI) solutions with China’s “Huawei Enterprise Business Group,” Azernews reports, citing the Minister of Digital Development and Transport.

During a meeting with Hao Zhichen, President of Huawei Enterprise Business Group for the Middle East and Central Asia, the sides discussed Azerbaijan’s national AI strategy, the establishment of infrastructure for AI deployment, and the introduction of Huawei’s international solutions in this field.

By supporting Azerbaijan in these areas, the EU aims to enhance economic resilience and transparency, contributing to the stability and progress of the wider region.

The European Investment Bank’s global arm, EIB Global, has granted a €43 million loan to Azerbaijan’s state-owned enterprise, AzInTelecom LLC, to develop a digital infrastructure for public administration. The funding will be used to construct two new state-of-the-art data centres offering cloud services and using green technologies.

Azerbaijan is consistently implementing measures to develop sustainable transport and “smart cities,” making them a key part of the country's climate agenda, COP29 President, Representative of the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan on Climate Issues, Mukhtar Babayev said, Trend reports.

He made the announcement during his speech at the Baku Climate Action Week (BCAW2025).

Azerbaijan is creating joint ventures with foreign companies as part of its "smart city" and "green energy zone" concepts, Azerbaijan’s Economy Minister Mikayil Jabbarov said at the international forum on carbon pricing in Baku, Trend reports.

He highlighted that Azerbaijan is actively working to develop hydropower potential in Karabakh and Eastern Zangezur.
