By 2030, Ho Chi Minh City aims to become a smart city through a fundamental and comprehensive transformation of its digital government, digital enterprises, and digital society. This is regarded as a key foundation for the city to reform its growth model towards rapid and sustainable development.

Ho Chi Minh City targets the digital economy to account for 25% of its GRDP by 2025, and by 2030 strives to be among the top two localities nationwide in digital government and digital economy.

Many vocational schools across the country, particularly in Ho Chi Minh City, are accelerating digital transformation initiatives aimed at shaping smart vocational schools.

As Vietnam moves deeper into the digital era, the demand for a highly skilled workforce with digital competencies is growing.

Initial success has come from promoting smart city development all around the country under a project instigated in 2018 and reviewed recently.

At a conference held on August 13 by the Ministry of Construction (MoC), in collaboration with the Ministry of Science and Technology (MoST), to review the “Vietnam Sustainable Smart Urban Development Project for 2018-2025, with a Vision to 2030” (Project 950), Minister of Construction Tran Hong Minh stated that, with a strategic vision in the era of Industry 4.0, the Party and State have remained committed to transforming the growth model towards green, smart, and sustainable development. This commitment was set in motion in 2018, when the Prime Minister issued Decision No. 950/QD-TTg, laying the initial foundation for sustainable smart city development nationwide.

Can Tho is expanding cooperation with partners from the Republic of Korea (RoK), driving development of the Mekong Delta’s sectors in economy, science, and technology, affirmed a city leader.

Nguyen Tuan Anh, Deputy Secretary of the municipal Party Committee, made the statement during a meeting on October 17 with a delegation from the Contents Convergence Software Research Institute of the RoK's Kyonggi University. The two sides exchanged orientations and discussed ways to promote bilateral cooperation across various fields, particularly in digital transformation, science and technology, and smart city development.
