A conference on digital transformation themed “Technology for life” - Tech4life 2023 was held in Ho Chi Minh City on October 10 by the municipal Department of Information and Communications in collaboration with the Vietnam Software & IT services (VINASA) in response to the National Digital Transformation Day 2023 (October 10).

An exhibition also kicked off in the framework of the event on the same day, featuring technological products and solutions at 60 booths of small- and medium-sized enterprises, startups and technological and software developers across the country.

The central city of Da Nang has been awarded the Seoul Smart City Prize in the category of the Human Centricity bronze at the World Cities Summit Mayors Forum in Seoul, the Republic of Korea, for member cities of the World Smart Sustainable Cities Organisation (WeGO).

Deputy Director of the city’s Department of Information and Communications Tran Ngoc Thach said the prize was given to the representative of the municipal People’s Council on September 26.

Binh Duong is on the right track towards its goal of smart and sustainable development when focusing on innovation, shifting to modern industries with high added value, and investing in infrastructure, social housing and education, said a supervision delegation from the Intelligent Community Forum (ICF).

The delegation, led by John Jung, co-founder of ICF, made the assessment on September 7 at a working session with leaders of Binh Duong during their trip to the southern province to inspect the realisation of goals and proposed orientation in the coming time.

An international seminar themed “Smart city for green growth” was jointly held in Ho Chi Minh City on September 21 by the Vietnam Academy of Social Sciences (VASS), the Lao Academy of Social and Economic Sciences (LASES), the Royal Academy of Cambodia (RAC) and the Korea Environment Institute (KEI).

VASS President Dr. Phan Chi Hieu stressed that the building of smart urban areas is expected to bolster innovation and start-up, create jobs for young people, narrow income gap and promote digital economy. Besides, smart urban areas also aims to fully tap green energy sources, applies science to optimise resources while stepping up sustainable production and consumption.

The northern province of Hung Yen has been speeding up the process of digital transformation, digital government, and smart city building in association with administrative reform, aiming to improve the quality of its public services.

Defining digital transformation as an obvious trend and a motivation for local socioeconomic development, the provincial Party Committee has issued a resolution on the work in the 2021-2025 period with a vision to 2030 which sets a target of bringing Hung Yen to the group of top 20 localities in digital transformation by 2030.
