The Director General, National Information Technology Development Agency (NITDA ), Kashifu Inuwa Abdullahi believes that Nigeria has found a place on the global map of digitally competitive nations following President Muhammadu Buhari’s re-designation of Ministry of Communications into the Ministry of Communications and Digital Economy.

Speaking during a virtual webinar panel discussions where he delved on the topic; ‘The Social and Economic Impact of COVID-19 on Nigerian Youth’, he stated that with the recent government initiative to making Nigeria a leading digital economy, NITDA had refocused its effort in the implementation of the National Digital Economy Strategy.

One major thing identified by stakeholders in the information and communications technology (ICT) industry that will impact both the sector and the economy as a whole will be the faster implementation of the New National Broadband Plan (NNBP 2020-2025).

Indeed, a notable achievement of the sector in the last one year of President Muhammadu Buhari’s second term in the ICT sector is the draft of the broadband plan, championed by the Minister of Communications and Digital Economy, Dr. Isa Ali-Pantami with the support of the Prof. Umar Danbatta-led Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC).

Lagos State government on Thursday said it has re-invigorated its e-governance operations, with the innovation of the LASG Campus Network, an enterprise infrastructure that connects thousands of computers from all MDAs within and around the secretariat for e-governance operations.

The State Commissioner for Science and Technology, Mr Hakeem Fahm, disclosed this at the 2020 Ministerial Press Briefing to commemorate the one year in office of Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu- led administration at JJT Park, Alausa, Ikeja.

The National Information Technology Development Agency has unveiled the draft national outsourcing strategy for Nigeria.

The draft strategy was unveiled on Thursday during an online workshop.

The Director-General of NITDA, Mr Kashifu Inuwa, said the strategy would ensure effective implementation of the national digital economy policy and strategy of the Federal Government.

The Director General, National Information Technology Development Agency (NITDA), Kashifu Inuwa Abdullahi, has urged Nigerian technology experts to get ready for new innovations and ideas for post-COVID-19 pandemic era, particularly to fast-track the recovery and sustainable development of the country.

The Director General, who is also the Chief Information Technology Officer of Nigeria, made this call as a Panel discussion during the Africa Tech Leaders Webinar Series organised by Digital Jewels with the theme: ‘COVID-19 Pandemic: The Africa Leaders’ Outlook’, on Tuesday.
