Online registration for issue of Sanitary Import Permit to import livestock/livestock products to India has begun today.

The Sanitary Import Permit Information System (SIPS) was inaugurated by Ms. Charusheela Sohoni, Secretary for Animal Husbandry, Dairying & Fisheries. This system will not only enable the importers to submit applications electronically but will also provide information on the status of their applications. Prescribed proforma of the application, user manual, harmonized system of codes of livestock products, feed-back from importers/users etc. can also be accessed electronically.

In a bid to simplify official transactions and stress upon customer interaction, the Nashik district administration has launched the Nashik One (N-1) project. The project not only plans to ease customer interaction with various departments, but essentially aims to change the ‘department-centric’ functioning of the government into a more ‘customer-centric’ one.

The project is planned to bring all government services under one roof and it will be digitally linked as well. “The idea is to make available all necessary documents and services right from birth to death certificates at one place without much customer harassment,” said district collector, S Chokalingam, the architect of the project. The new model is based on the fact that a customer needs information from various departments. And as it has been, the process includes various indirect expenditures.

Ensure electronic connectivity to empower the nation

President A P J Abdul Kalam today said that to empower the nation, electronic connectivity has to be ensured, and added that bandwidth would be the bridge for prosperity.

Inaugurating the India Telecom 2006 in New Delhi, the president, who shared his thoughts on “Connectivity for Billion People,” congratulated the users of telecom systems for innovative applications and overwhelming enthusiasm to utilize the available infrastructure in the most efficient manner.

Chief minister Buddhadeb Bhattacharjee launched the ‘Tathya Mitra’ kiosks in the state on Wednesday.

The information kiosks, said Bhattacharjee, will help to rev up administration of the panchayats, as it will enable the state administration to remain in touch with the village-level administrative bodies.
