The Kazakh capital should become the innovative city of the future, said President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev during a meeting on Jan. 31 devoted to the development of Astana, reported Akorda press service.
President Tokayev highlighted the importance of attracting IT business professionals, urging the capital’s administration and the Ministry of Digital Development, Innovation and Aerospace Industry to undertake this effort to turn Astana into a digital nomads mecca.

The first 5G city, sponsored by Kcell, one of the country’s largest mobile network operators, and Ericsson, Swedish multinational networking and telecommunications company, will be set up in Turkistan – the capital of the Turkic world, reports inbusiness.kz.
With their strategic agreement, Kcell and Ericsson intend to accelerate the development of 5G technologies in the country.

According to the United Nations ranking, Kazakhstan is currently ranking 39 in the E-Government Development Index, 26 in Online Service Index and 40 in Global Cybersecurity Index.
Today, Kazakhstan is one of the leading countries in terms of Internet accessibility – the cost per one gigabyte in the country amounts to US$0.49, the population coverage stands at 84.2 percent, whereas, for example, in Ukraine these figures are US$0.51/62.5 percent of population coverage, in China – US$9.89/61.2 percent, and in the United States – US$12.37/87.3 percent.

Mortgage services are now available in the real estate government database online in Kazakhstan. This was announced in July by Kazakh Minister of Digital Development, Innovations and Space Industry Bagdat Mussin.
People now can apply for a mortgage online without going to the banks and collecting documents offline. The project has been launched in cooperation with the Freedom Finance Bank since July 1. Digitized homebuying is the next step, starting with the registration of rights and ending with the registration of withdrawal from the pledge in August.

Kazakhstan national operator Kazakhtelecom has completed the deployment of fibre lines in 14 villages in the East Kazakhstan region. Around 44 state institutions have been connected to internet services there. About 83 villages will be covered with the network in the region.
Work is being carried out under the framework of a national programme. Kazakhtelecom plans to cover almost 2.5 million residents in remote areas with broadband. The national operator plans to build 14,500 kilometres of fibre lines and to connect almost 2,500 state and municipal institutions in 828 villages across the country this year.
