Virtual registry opens a window of opportunity for expats and foreign investors
Investors holding free zone assets in Dubai or Ras Al Khaimah can now register their wills online at the world’s first virtual wills registry that goes live from Sunday.
Launched as part of Dubai’s e-government innovation agenda, DIFC Wills and Probate Registry is designed primarily for overseas asset-holders.

Effective from the beginning of next month (Oct.1) motorists can renew and get their driving licence issued online. The driving licence section of Sharjah Police has unveiled plans of stopping any transactions at the centre that should be completed electronically by downloading from the Ministry of Interior app store (UAE-MOI).
Colonel Ali Bu Al Zod, Director of the Licence of Motorists at Sharjah Police, said that the smart e-service through the Ministry of Interior application should be used by motorists for various traffic services including a new driving licence and renewal, and issuing a new licence for a lost one.

The UAE Excise Tax, due to go into force effective from Oct.1, shall be collected in e-Dirham only, the Federal Tax Authority (FTA) has announced.
The move goes in line with the UAE government’s strategy to keep pace with the latest technological developments in areas of FinTech and revenue collection and ensure transparency, efficiency and safety in financial transactions

The Telecommunications Regulatory Authority, TRA, in collaboration with the United Nations Department of Economic and Social Affairs, UNDESA, and the Open Data Institute, ODI, is organising a workshop to introduce global trends and best practices in e-participation and open data.
The workshop will be held on Tuesday, 19th September, 2017, in Dubai. It will be hosted by Richard Kerby, the Inter-Regional Advisor in UNDESA e-government, and a number of experts, leaders of smart transformation in government entities, managers of corporate communication departments, e-participation and smart data officials, and several stakeholders.

The Sharjah Department of e-Government, DeG, is celebrating winning a major government award for the quality of its services.
The department, which works to enhance connectivity in Sharjah and to create preparations for a transition to a digitally integrated society, was given the 'Excellence Award' for Arab Government Achievement' for its successful efforts in implementing the 'Zajel' electronic correspondence across government departments in the emirate.
