The most recent launch of ‘Dubai Paperless Strategy’ by His Highness Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai and Chairman of Dubai Executive Council, is aimed at fulfilling UAE’s 2021 Vision of becoming one of the best countries in the world through becoming a highly competitive economy whilst providing a sustainable living environment.

Skyline University College organized the second edition of One Day Refresher Course in Management with Emphasis on E-Governance, Artificial Intelligence and Robotics, and Enterprising Sustainable Smart Cities (Pocket MBA) on April 18, 2018 at SUC Campus. Delegates such as tourism directors, managers, software engineers, IT directors, and SUC Alumni from various corporate and government offices in the UAE have participated in the program.
The Pocket MBA covered an introduction to E-Governance, a discussion on disruptions which are disrupting the supply line of existing business model, and an insightful overview about difference between Sustainable Innovations and Disruptive Innovations. It also included the topics of emerging technologies like Block Chain, Artificial Intelligence, and Robotics. Finally, the program provided an understanding on the application of various technologies in building and developing Enterprising Sustainable Smart Cities. The case studies of Kodak and Chicago Smart City were used in the discussion during the program.
The strategy is expected to contribute to saving AED11 billion (USD 3 billion) spent annually on document transactions and documents, 77 million hours of work, reduce government documents by 389 million, and save 1.6 billion kilometres spent driving.

Mint Middle East (MME), a globally certified payments company, has signed licensing agreements with Interac Corp, Canada’s domestic debit network, granting MME exclusive rights in the United Arab Emirates.
The licensing agreements will help MME to deliver a secure and cost-effective contactless point-of-sale solution in the UAE for domestic debit transactions, as well as provide documentation and software that will position MME to offer a broad range of mobile payment solutions.
The UAE's Telecommunications Regulatory Authority (TRA) has revealed the statistics of the Government Service Bus (GSB) project for 2017, as 66 government services provided by 23 local and federal government entities have been interconnected streamline smart services to the public. It said utilisation has passed 1 million utilisations.
The GSB project is a part of the UAE mGovernment initiative. GSB helps federal and local entities to exchange data smoothly and provide their services in an integrated way. This enables the public to get government services without having to move from one entity to another. Government Services Bus is a part of the FedNet initiative, too, under which the government aims to establish a comprehensive connection platform and approve the highest standards of cyber security and safety.
