  • PK: Online filing of returns become mandatory

    The Securities and Exchange Commission of Pakistan (SECP) has made it mandatory for all listed companies and companies in other categories to file documents, returns, accounts and applications, through SECP’s eServices online filing facility.

    The SECP had issued a notification in this regard on March 13, 2013, wherein, May 13, 2013 was given as an effective date, for the mandatory online filing.

    Requirement of mandatory filing is applicable to all listed companies; Companies which had filed last document return accounts or any application through eServices or will file any document, return, accounts or application through eServices from May 13, 2013 onward.

  • PK: Online payment facility launched

    The Securities and Exchange Commission of Pakistan (SECP) on Friday launched online payment facility for its stakeholders, a statement said.

    An arrangement has been made with the MCB Bank Limited, whereby the MCB customers can make payments to the commission through its internet banking facility, it said.

    Now, the customers with MCB Bank accounts can make payments to the SECP through online funds transfer facility without the hassle of visiting a bank or the SECP offices.

  • PK: P&D redesigned website launched

    Punjab Planning and Development Chairman Irfan Elahi has said that the new version of website of the P&D Department will not only keep up with the demands of the citizens for transparency, greater engagements and inclusion but it shall also empowered the general public by allowing them to view the ongoing a new schemes.

    He said this while addressing the formal launching ceremony of newly redesigned website of the Punjab Planning and Development Department on Tuesday.

  • PK: Pact for data hosting of e-office project signed

    The government finally has signed data hosting agreement with PTCL to implement E-office system in all the main ministries of the government that it considers a step forward to ensure transparency and efficiency in the ministries.

    Minister of State for IT Ms Anusha Rahman chaired a meeting regarding the implementation of E-office system; the meeting was attended by Additional Secretary Azmat Ranjha Ministry of IT, Senior Executives of EGD/PCB and senior representatives of LMKT. The Minister stated that it is a historic occasion that finally the strenuous and ceaseless efforts by the Ministry of IT the agreement for data hosting facilities regarding implementation of E-office project have been signed between EGD/PCB and PTCL. And now the E-office replication project has entered into the implementation phase.

  • PK: PMRU collects data base of problem in citizens’ issues in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa

    Since 2018 the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Performance, Management and Reforms Unit (PMRU) has been able to accumulate a vast and organised data base of the most recurring and acute problem in issues faced by the citizens in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa through the portal and other E-governance initiatives.

    The KP Citizen Portal App currently connects more than 1700 offices in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. Since last 19 months, more than 23,7000 complaints have been lodged through this App predominantly against four departments including Local Government/Municipal Services, Education, Health, Law & Order/Police. PMRU also maintains a complete log of the process/actions taken by various offices on each complaint/task assigned to the departments in district administration.

    Nadra has prepared useful system

    President Asif Ali Zardari said on Tuesday that the pension disbursement through Nadra’s smart CNIC will not only streamline the pension disbursement system but would also provide a great comfort and facilitate those pensioners who have rendered huge and valuable services for the country.

    He said this while chairing a briefing on pension disbursement through smart CNIC by Nadra at the Aiwan-e-Sadr, which was attended among others by Finance Minister Dr Abdul Hafeez Sheikh, Interiorminister A Rehman Malik, Federal Minister for Capital Administration and Development Nazar Muhammad Gondal, M. Salman Faruqui Secretary General, SAPM Ms. Shahnaz Wazir Ali, Muhammad Tariq Malik Chairman Nadra, Wajid Rana, Secretary Finance, and other senior officials of the concerned departments.

  • PK: President calls for ICT progress

    President Mamnoon Hussain has emphasised on technological progress, which, he said is vital to compete in the fields of business education and health. He was speaking at the inaugural session of the Fifth International Conference on Information and Communication Technologies (ICT) at the Governor House on Saturday.

    The president was of the view that this conference would not only serve as an important platform for mutual sharing of knowledge and expertise among the specialists of this field but would also help significantly towards further promoting the growth of this sector in the country.

  • PK: President calls for promoting online education

    President Dr Arif Alvi Friday said that having lost some of the time already, Pakistan was ready to jump on the bandwagon to exhibit its potential in the technology sector. “There is so much vibrancy around. While we think we have lost some of the time, I hope we are still ready to jump on that bandwagon and show the world what we are like,” the president said.

    He was addressing the launching ceremony of a working paper “Energising the Tech Investment Ecosystem in Pakistan” issued by the Center for Digital Transformation which pointed out the issues impeding Pakistan’s advancement in technological sector and recommended the ways forward. The president reiterated his call for promoting the online education what he said was far more cost effective and could also lead to the enhancement of the enrollment. He said the knowledge was available in the cloud but the country had not yet adopted the required tools, though some of the progress had been achieved by experimenting the online learning during COVID pandemic.

  • PK: Project of 500 telecenters right move to provide E-services in remote areas

    The establishment of 500 telecenters is a landmark project on part of present regime to provide E-services to people of rural areas.Besides providing Broadband Internet and other IT services, these Centres would also ensure online SIM card and National Identity Card verifications through National Database and Registration Authority (NADRA). Minister of State for Information Technology, Anusha Rehman took keen interest in the project and enhanced number of telecentres to 500 with the objective to facilitate rural population of the country including FATA and AJK.

    A six-month performance report of Pakistan Muslim League (PML-N) on Monday revealed that during the period National lCT Research and Development Awards-2013 was launched to acknowledge efforts of Pakistani organizations, researchers, academicians, professionals and engineers in the area of Information and Communication Technology (lCT) with a view to encouraging development of an ICT-focussed R&D culture in Pakistan.

  • PK: Property registration system being introduced in Punjab

    The Punjab government has planned new interventions in the field of Information Technology applying E-Governance in the province at all levels and introducing property registration system across the province starting from Lahore after successful computerisation of Punjab land revenue land record, revealed the budget document 2016-17.

    The government is going for digitalisation of Prison Management Information System PMIS), Local Government Automated Financial Management and Monitoring System, Punjab Home Department Management Information System. The government is going to introduce automation of stamp papers (e-stamping) across the province.

  • PK: PTCL to provide ICT services to DHA Islamaba

    Pakistan Telecommunication Company Limited (PTCL) inked an agreement with Defence Housing Authority Islamabad (DHAI) on Friday to extend Information Communication Technology (ICT) services and infrastructure deployment in DHA, says a press release.

    This strategic partnership shall enable residents of DHA Islamabad to experience superior telecom services of PTCL including voice telephony, broadband internet and SmartTV as well as Pakistan’s fastest and most reliable Evo wireless broadband internet services. In addition, PTCL has already established a dedicated facility to further facilitate its customers by offering all the products and services of the company under one roof.

  • PK: Punjab annuls GST on internet

    The Punjab government has finally revoked the imposition of 19.5 per cent General Sales Tax (GST) on internet use in the province in a bid to boost internet penetration and to accomplish its E-governance dream.

    Punjab Finance Minister Dr Ayesha Pasha talking to The News confirmed that Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif had given the go-ahead and a notification in that regard will be issued on Thursday (today) by the Punjab Finance Department.

  • PK: Punjab government allocates Rs 7393 million to promote IT culture

    The Punjab government allocated an amount of Rs 7,393 million for the promotion of IT culture in the proposed Punjab budget of 2014-2015. As per budget document, major thrust of the investment in the public sector would be on Development of Management Information System for the improvement of governance leading to improved service delivery to the public.

    Capacity Building for Human Resource Development projects will also be implemented to attract Direct Foreign and Local Investments, create Job opportunities and help foreign exchange earnings through establishment of Software Houses and Call Centers in the Information Technology Parks.

  • PK: Punjab: Lahore to be made smart city: CM Buzdar

    Punjab Chief Minister Usman Buzdar on Thursday claimed that Lahore will be made a smart city by 2025.

    Talking to a delegation led by Chief Executive Officer Huawei Pakistan Saif Chi, who called him at his office, CM Buzdar welcomed the technical assistance of Huawei in the establishment of Safe City Authority and hoped that it will also extend cooperation in the digitization of Punjab.

  • PK: SECP expands e-services to encourage corporatisation

    The SECP’s e-services are aimed at facilitating the online availability of name, online incorporation of companies and e-filing of statutory returns, and enables the promoters and other officers of the company to interact online using the services portal, without visiting the SECP.

    The services filing facility is an easy and hassle-free mode of submission, coupled with an added feature of lesser fees as compared to manual filing. Foreign companies have especially welcomed this initiative.

  • PK: SIM re-verification at press clubs

    Mobilink has launched a countrywide SIM re-verification drive for the journalist fraternity of Pakistan by setting up Biometric Re-verification kiosks at Karachi, Islamabad, Abbotabad, Faisalabad, Muzaffarabad, Mansehra and Bahawalpur press clubs, a statement said on Saturday.

    The kiosks were set as a means to facilitate and encourage journalists, their friends and families to verify their SIMs through the biometric verification system.

    The first initiative aims to digitise majority of customer centric activities at Telenor Pakistan's sales and service centres. The installation of Digital Customer TouchPoint - an automated touch-point will introduce the self-servicing concept at sales and service centre in Blue Area, Islamabad.

  • PK: Turkey to help promote e-governance in Punjab

    Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif has said that investment-friendly policies of the PML-N government are attracting foreign companies’ investment of billions of rupees in the province.

    He said modern cleanliness system had been introduced in Lahore with the collaboration of Turk companies and scope of this system was being expanded to other big cities of the province. He said a splendid project of metro bus had been completed in the provincial metropolis in a record period with the collaboration of Turk companies. Work is continuing round the clock on Rawalpindi-Islamabad metro bus project, he said, adding that metro bus projects at Multan and Faisalabad had been planned.

  • PK: Upcoming LG polls: Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government to use biometric system in one tehsil as pilot

    The Pakistan Tehrik-e-Insaf (PTI)-led government in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa has decided to limit the use of biometric technology for the upcoming local government elections to one Tehsil as a pilot project instead of using the technology across the province.

    An official of the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) said local government elections would be delayed by another five to six months if the party kept insisting that the votes to be polled through biometric machines. The official maintained that the KP government was informed by the ECP that they could hold the local bodies elections before June 30, if they were willing to forego their insistence on biometric verification and to procure the technology necessary for biometric verification, they would need at least another 20 weeks.

  • PK: USF approves rural telephony, e-service for remote areas

    The Universal Service Fund Company’s (USF’s) 41st board of directors (BoD) meeting has approved an award of Rural Telephony and E-services Project encompassing Sibi, Loralai, Killa Saifullah and Barkhan districts.

    The USF BoD meeting, which was held on Thursday, was headed by Information Technology (IT) Minister Anusha Rahman.
