Nadra has prepared useful system

President Asif Ali Zardari said on Tuesday that the pension disbursement through Nadra’s smart CNIC will not only streamline the pension disbursement system but would also provide a great comfort and facilitate those pensioners who have rendered huge and valuable services for the country.

He said this while chairing a briefing on pension disbursement through smart CNIC by Nadra at the Aiwan-e-Sadr, which was attended among others by Finance Minister Dr Abdul Hafeez Sheikh, Interiorminister A Rehman Malik, Federal Minister for Capital Administration and Development Nazar Muhammad Gondal, M. Salman Faruqui Secretary General, SAPM Ms. Shahnaz Wazir Ali, Muhammad Tariq Malik Chairman Nadra, Wajid Rana, Secretary Finance, and other senior officials of the concerned departments.

Briefing about the meeting, spokesperson to the President Senator Farhatullah Babar said that President taking notice of the difficulties faced by the old-age pensioners had directed Chairman Nadra to work on a comprehensive mechanism to facilitate the pensioners by issuing them biometrics Smart Cards so that they could withdraw their pension from any biometrics enabled platform used by banks, post offices and any other alternate channel.

He said that during today’s meeting Chairman Nadra Tariq Malik informed the meeting that while analysing the pensioner’s data, 75% data was found be not linked with valid and verifiable identity which might result in massive duplication. He said that the proposed system of disbursement of pension through Nadra’s Smart CNIC would constitute three main elements starting from the collection of pensioner’s data to eliminate duplication and ghost pensioners, issuance of Smart Identity Cards and then the deployment of Pension Disbursement system to be utilised by all disbursing partner entities.

The key features of the programme, he said, include Biometric Authentication through utilization of Smart Card, Automation of pension disbursement system to provide real time feedback and mobility options to pensioners to withdraw their pension from banks, post offices or other allied alternate channels. It was suggested that more automation options shall be considered in order to draw amount from any outlet not necessary where the account is.

He further said that that all the technology components are fully developed by Nadra, tested and ready for deployment.Chairman Nadra also briefed the President about the proposed biometric teacher’s attendance management system. He informed that Nadra has designed a solution which will ensure attendance through Biometrics using GPRS based devices which will be provided to every school.

President directed the concerned to further study the proposed project and work-out implementation strategy for its consideration by the Government. He appreciated Nadra for its efforts to facilitate the pensioners and urged for expediting the rolling out of smart CNIC to enable the pensioners all over the country to benefit from this facility.
