Prime Minister Phan Van Khai inaugurated the sites www.vietnam.gov.vn and www.chinhphu.vn at a ceremony Tuesday afternoon in Hanoi.

According to Vu Van Ninh, Vice Chairman of the city's People's Committee, IT would help accelerate the process of industrialisation and modernisation in the region's provinces and cities.
The northern key economic region represents 3.3 percent of the country's total acreage of about 330,000 sq. km, and 11 percent of the national population of 81 million. The region recorded an annual GDP growth rate of 9 percent with the proportion of industries and services in GDP reaching 90 percent. The region contributed about 16 percent to the country's GDP, 28 percent to budget remittances, and 16 percent to export turnover.

Accordingly, the country plans to have about 60 per cent of its large enterprises and 80 per cent of its small- and medium-sized businesses conducting business-to-business (B2B) transactions online, as well as 10 per cent of all local households participating in business-to-customer (B2C) and customer-to-customer (C2C) transactions.
The Deputy PM expressed his gratitude at a ceremony to launch the e-Government website in Ha Noi on September 9.
