Bundesinnenminister Dr. Wolfgang Schäuble: 'Dank der Online-Dienstleistungen der Bundesbehörden sind Bürgerinnen, Bürger und die Wirtschaft unabhängig von den Öffnungszeiten der Verwaltung. Weg- und Wartezeiten entfallen, viele Anliegen können via Internet und per E-Mail erledigt werden. Zudem verringert die elektronische Bearbeitung den zeitlichen und finanziellen Aufwand der Verwaltungen und leistet einen wichtigen Beitrag zum Bürokratieabbau in Deutschland.'

Österreich: Rollout der e-card zeitgerecht abgeschlossen
In Österreich gehört der Krankenkassenscheck der Vergangenheit an. Die neue Gesundheitskarte, die e-card, ist da und bringt Vorteile für Patienten, Ärzte, Arbeitgeber und die Sozialversicherung selbst. Noch vor Jahresende 2005 verfügen alle ÖsterreicherInnen über ihre persönliche e-card. 8,2 Mio. Karten wurden landesweit verschickt, rund 10.700 Vertragsärzte sind am Netz angeschlossen. Damit existiert eine flächendeckende elektronische Plattform für zahlreiche weitere e-health-Dienste, wie die automatisierte Genehmigung von chefarztpflichtigen Rezepten oder das elektronische Rezept. Das e-card System schafft eine österreichweite Breitbandvernetzung im Gesundheitsweisen und bildet gleichzeitig die Infrastruktur für eine Reihe zukunftsweisender Folgeprojekte.
