Die Schweiz stellt über 3.000 Server im öffentlichen Sektor auf Linux um. Linux wird in der Schweiz damit erstmals auf Bundesebene eingeführt, die Server werden mit SuSE Linux laufen.

The Kangnam-gu office in southern Seoul will launch TV-based administrative services in April for the first time in the world.
According to the district office, it will gradually introduce electronic customized public services through television sets in 36 items of 12 civic services in cooperation with the Ministry of Government Administration and Home Affairs.

Novell erhält Großauftrag der Schweizer Bundesregierung
Wie Novell mitteilt, wurde mit der Schweizer Bundesregierung eine Vereinbarung getroffen, die den Einsatz von Novells Enterprise-Linux-Servern in einem großen Teil der IT-Infrastruktur der öffentlichen Verwaltung zur Folge haben wird. Dieses Projekt wurde öffentlich ausgeschrieben und an Novell vergeben, nachdem das Unternehmen nach eigenen Angaben überzeugend darlegen konnte, daß es die »stärkste Linux-Lösung für die öffentliche Verwaltung« bieten kann. Über 3000 Server der öffentlichen Verwaltung der Schweiz werden daher nach und nach auf SUSE Enterprise Linux umgestellt.
