  • IN: Haryana: Municipal Corporation of Gurgaon turns new page on Facebook

    In a boost to e-governance, the Municipal Corporation of Gurgaon (MCG), will formally launch its page on Facebook and Twitter from next week. This will provide a platform to residents where they can access the civic body’s website. Though the MCG had recently launched its pages on the social networking sites on a trial basis, the same will be formally launched after MCG commissioner Sudhir Rajpal’s approval.

    “We are quite hopeful that the pages will make a positive impact on viewers and address their grievances as well as bring us their valuable suggestions,” said the MCG commissioner.

    In its current state, GMDA manually conducts surveys and estimates for road repairs based on visual inspections.   • IN: Haryana: Only 8 projects complete under Smart City Mission in Faridabad

    Five years on, since the launch of the Smart City Mission, the progress of the Smart City Project in Faridabad is slow as only eight of the total 44 projects awarded under the programme stand completed. Another 13.6 per cent of the works are nearing completion, it is reported.

    According to details made available by the authorities of Faridabad Smart City Limited (FSCL), the agency carrying out the mission, eight projects worth Rs 190.66 crore stands completed, while six projects worth Rs 417.79 crore are on the verge of completion. The FSCL has released tenders of another 30 projects worth Rs. 321.59 crore recently, claim its officials. The total cost of the projects has been worth Rs 930.04 crore.

    In the recent past, the Panchkula administration has been seen relying on software to improve governance. Taking another step towards e-governance, a touch screen facility was installed on Tuesday at the deputy commissioner’s (DC) office, which contains details of the district’s land records, information on vehicle registration numbers and progress of fresh licence applications.

    Pradeep Kumar, CEO - Govt. Business, Vakrangee Softwares Ltd, talked about e-governance and the various projects that the company had been handling for the government. He shared a case study of Haryana state, where the public distribution system has been computerized on a pilot basis and people have been issued smartcards.

    The company began working on the voter ID card project in 1990 and then moved on to bag several projects from the government. For the state government of Haryana, Vakrangee is handing the Rs 125 crore PDS project that has about 60 lakh beneficiaries. The company has installed 9,300 Points Of Sale (POS) in order to reach out to the maximum number of citizens who live in rural and semi-rural areas.

  • IN: Haryana: Sibal opens rural service centre

    Union IT & communications minister Kapil Sibal inaugurated a rural service centre (RSC) in Badshahpur village here on Monday. The RSC set up by a private telecom infrastructure firm, as per the PPP model, will facilitate education through internet, telecom services, healthcare and e-governance-related services in rural areas.

    Age will not be a bar for people who wish to learn about agriculture and related topics. People will be taught in batches of eight in an education centre powered by a 1,800-watt solar panel.

  • IN: Haryana: Six years on, 98% Faridabad Smart City projects yet to be completed

    The pace of the Smart City project launched in 2016 has been extremely slow. With only 2.2 per cent of the work declared as complete in the past six years, the majority of the works are still pending, it is learnt. Faridabad was among the 100 cities in the country that were selected for the project in 2015-16. It was launched with the proposed budget of Rs 2,600 crore.

    Out of 45 works announced under the project, 44 are lying incomplete, reveal sources in the district administration, claiming that the total period allotted for the completion of the project was five years. The only work that stands completed is the comprehensive mobility plan for the city that cost Rs 1.07 crore, and work on the other schemes is still on, claim sources in the Faridabad Smart City Limited (FSCL). This has also been corroborated in the statement by the Urban Local Bodies Minister, Kamal Gupta, in the recently concluded winter session of the state assembly.

  • IN: Haryana: Soon, doctor-on-call service for Covid patients in Faridabad

    The Faridabad administration will soon launch a doctor-on-call service and mobile application and set up a call centre to provide medical assistance and support to Covid patients in home isolation. It will also be ensured that suspected patients get their Covid test reports within a day.

    The directions in this regard were issued by Sanjeev Kaushal, Additional Chief Secretary, Revenue and Disaster Management, who today reviewed the situation and measures being taken by the district administration to check the spread of Covid-19.

    The Haryana government will develop a roadmap for Information Technology (IT) application and e-governance for the next ten years to become more efficient, transparent and accountable to its people. This was announced by the state chief secretary, Urvashi Gulati, at the IT Visioning Workshop organised by the IT Department on Wednesday.

    It has been decided to set up a state innovation council, she said and also proposed to give gold, silver and bronze awards to government employees for suggesting innovation to add efficiency in delivery of services of all kinds.

    While advocated for keeping people abreast with new technologies, she stressed the need to improve the quality of services provided by the government.

    The Gurgaon administration has been asked to provide manpower for the issuance of unique identity (UID) numbers to residents.

    In June last year, the Haryana government had signed an MOU with the Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI) for the issuance of UIDs to all residents of the state.

    In Gurgaon, the city administration has entrusted the implementation of the task of unique identification to government school teachers.

    This is mainly because local teachers have access to various sections of the society.

Amneet P Kumar, Secretary, Health and Mission Director, National Health Mission says, “Haryana is an innovative state and has launched several online applications in health including portals that were run by Government of India like Health Management Information System (HMIS) and Reproductive and Child Health (RCH).”

  • IN: Haryana: To train rural entrepreneurs, government to set up academy in Gurugram

    The state government will set up a common service centre (CSC) training academy in Gurugram where entrepreneurs from villages will be trained to run CSCs in their villages.

    The announcement was made on Friday by chief minister Manohar Lal Khattar who was visiting the Haryana State Electronics Development Corporation Limited (Hartron) campus in Udyog Vihar during his two-day Gurugram visit. The CSC training centre will be located on the same campus and will provide support to entrepreneurs in terms of training and skill development, the CM said.

    The state government has launched the second phase of its IT training programme for government employees, to better equip the staff to handle the various e-governance projects running in places like Gurgaon. According to officials, so far, around 34,000 employees have been imparted this training as a part of a statewide IT-awareness drive.

    "We have set up new IT labs in 64 colleges and 2,600 schools across Haryana. The IT department of the state has also escalated its efforts and has begun organizing training programmes regularly in government offices all over Haryana," said a state official in Gurgaon.

  • IN: Haryana: With help of special cameras, cops to issue e-challan to violators for jumping red light at 25 points in Gurugram

    There are 25 points in the city now where jumping a red light will lead to a challan being issued against the offending vehicle, even if a traffic police marshall is nowhere in sight.

    The Gurugram Metropolitan Development Authority (GMDA) and the Gurugram traffic police have installed red light violation detection cameras (RLVD) that monitor these crossings 24/7, and a system now automatically generates the challan and alerts the vehicle owner via text message.

    The Municipal Corporation of Gurgaon (MCG) is yet to introduce the biometric attendance system even though the plan to procure the equipment was sanctioned a year ago. The measure was aimed at keeping a tab on sanitation workers as there had been frequent complaints against them for skipping duties.

    On several occasions they have been found absent after marking presence in the manual register, resulting in lack of cleanliness in many areas.

  • IN: Haryana:CCTV cameras keep vigil on traffic violators in Karnal

    In the last 18 months, the Karnal police have issued 67,617 traffic challans after violations were captured through CCTV cameras installed at 63 points under the Karnal Smart City project’s Integrated Command and Control Centre (ICCC) initiative. Challans amounting to Rs 9.99 crore have been issued to the violators from November 2021 to April 30 this year.
