"We have set up new IT labs in 64 colleges and 2,600 schools across Haryana. The IT department of the state has also escalated its efforts and has begun organizing training programmes regularly in government offices all over Haryana," said a state official in Gurgaon.
The state government is also in the process of establishing the 'Haryana Knowledge Corporation Limited,' an organization that will work towards achieving 'mass IT literacy' in Haryana.
"This has become the first state to establish a centralized IT network, connecting all offices in every district on one point," the official said, referring to what is known as the State Wide Area Network or SWAN, which took over Rs 100 crore to set up.
The latest announcements come in the wake of the publication of a revised 'Communication and Connectivity Infrastructure Policy,' setting the stage for a full-scale upgrade of IT and communication infrastructure in places like Gurgaon.
