  • Bahrain National ICT eGovernance Committee holds its first meeting

    Bahrain National ICT eGovernance Committee, established by Resolution of His Highness Shaikh Mohammed bin Mubarak Al Khalifa, Deputy Prime Minister, Chairman of the Supreme Committee for Information and Communication Technology, held its first meeting chaired by Mr. Mohammed Ali Al Qaed, Chief Executive officer of the eGovernment Authority.

    The committee, is made up of professionals and specialists representing a number of government entities, who will be responsible of setting high eGovernance standards for the employment and utilization of ICT projects in the government entities, review strategies, monitor financial cost of ICT projects and report to the Supreme Committee for Information and Communication Technology (SCICT) in this respect for necessary action.

  • Bahrain offers financial incentives for online payment of water and electricity bills

    Within the national strategic objectives of the Kingdom of Bahrain for the eGovernment Authority which aims at boosting the utilization of the government services electronically; and an imitative for the first time orchestrated with the Electricity and Water Authority to encourage its subscribers to electronically pay their bills through the eGovernment portal 'Bahrain.bh' or through the eGovernment Services Center, the eGovernment Authority offers those complying with such scheme to get back 50% of their monthly bills refunded besides being qualified for a total refund of annual bills' value.

  • Bahrain on e-awards grand jury

    Bahrain has been chosen for the third consecutive time to sit on the grand jury for the World Summit Award for for e-products, such as e-government, e-learning and others.

    Bahraini information technology and e-content expert, Waheed Al Balushi, who is e-services manager for the Labour Market Regulatory Authority, is taking part in the grand jury sessions.

    The latest meeting was held on the island of Brijuni, Croatia, under the patronage of President Stjepan Mesic.

  • Bahrain outlines new eGovt strategy

    The Bahrain eGovernment Authority (eGA) has outlined its new strategy for the (2012-2016) period with focus on delivering high-quality services and improving public communication with government entities through social networks.

    Unveiling the strategy, His Highness Shaikh Mohammed bin Mubarak Al Khalifa, Deputy Prime Minister and Chairman of the Supreme Committee for Information and Communication Technology (SCICT) said 90 new projects will be implemented during the four-year period.

  • Bahrain participates at GCC Conference, Exhibition and Award for eGovernment in Oman

    The Kingdom of Bahrain participated last Monday in the First GCC Conference for eGovernment in Oman and will last till the 23rd December, aiming to provide opportunities for the Gulf Cooperation Council's (GCC) Governmental Authorities to exchange experiences in the eGovernment services and applications field.

    The First GCC Conference for eGovernment came under the recommendations of the first meeting of the GCC's eGovernment Agencies and programs held in the Kingdom of Bahrain which has proposed to have an annual conference to share common experiences and successful projects among all the Gulf States, instead of a separate conference.

  • Bahrain Pavilion showcases solutions for e-government services at Gitex 2009

    His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice-President of the UAE, the Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai, opened Gitex 2009 and the Kingdom of Bahrain's Pavilion at the Dubai Convention and Exhibition Center Sunday morning which takes place from 18th to 22nd October.

    The Bahrain Pavilion showcases different solutions and applications offered by the private sector to deliver integrated eGovernment services. This comes as part of the Kingdom's goal of increasing the pace of growth and development of the Kingdom's private sector in the field, as well benefitting from knowledge and experience exchange and spreading awareness about the high level of quality of Bahrain's services, in line with Bahrain's Vision 2030 of economic sustainability.

  • Bahrain plans mobile app for e-govt enquiries

    The government of Bahrain plans to introduce a mobile application for key services to enable members of the public to register complaints, suggestions and enquiries about government services direct from their mobile phones, Gulf Daily News reported. Plans are under way to develop an application for the national complaints and suggestion system Tawasul, which is currently available online. No date has been announced for the launch. It will allow the public to provide feedback on their experience with 23 ministries and departments.

  • Bahrain plans national call centre

    Bahrain is to establish a national call centre as part of its e-government strategy, it has been revealed.

    The Supreme Committee of Information and Communication Technology (SCICT) approved a proposal to establish a new company to manage the project.

    The company will be equally owned by the government and a large international company.

  • Bahrain Post Launches Mailbox Renewal eService via eGovernment National Portal

    Service will help to create a business-friendly environment

    Bahrain Post, in cooperation with the eGovernment Authority (eGA) in Bahrain, recently launched the Mailbox Renewal eService for individuals and businesses through the eGovernment National Portal (www.bahrain.bh).

    This follows the launch of the successful eService enabling the tracking of postal packages earlier this year, the first of many offerings Bahrain Post has pledged to provide through the eGovernment National Portal. The mailbox renewal eService simplifies the process and makes it much more convenient for those who wish to renew their mailboxes, while at the same time easing the workload on Bahrain Post staff and enabling further efficiencies at post offices throughout the Kingdom.

  • Bahrain Post releases app for tracking packages

    Bahrain Post has partnered with the eGovernment Authority of Bahrain to launch a mobile service for package tracking.

    Customers can enter their 13 digit ‘mail number’ to track their shipments online through Bahrain’s egovernment portal, or through a smartphone app, available free for Android and iOS-based phones. Users can download this app through the mobile section of the egovernment portal.

  • Bahrain promotes mobile payment services

    Bahrain’s eGovernment Authority has recently launched an awareness campaign to facilitate public online payment for government transactions through the mobile app version of the National eGovernment Portal.

    Mohammed Ziad Asfour, eGovernment Authority Marketing and Awareness Directorate Assistant Director, said in an official statement, “The aim of this campaign is to encourage the public to use the e-payment of fees and contraventions through the mobile, familiarize them with the registration process for this state-of-the-art mode of payment while highlighting the benefits in term of saving a lot of time and effort.”

  • Bahrain provides e-government services

    Bahrain launched its National Contact Centre to provide eGovernment services in the country. The centre, to employ 1,000 Bahrainis in the next three years, will also provide contact centre services to the public and private sectors, in addition to offering all of the eGovernment's integrated services.

    It is being run by a newly-formed company, Silah Gulf, which was also launched yesterday during a ceremony held under the patronage of and attended by Deputy Prime Minister and Supreme Committee for Information and Communication Technology chairman Shaikh Mohammed bin Mubarak Al Khalifa.

  • Bahrain provides egov services through new contact centre

    Bahrain launched its National Contact Centre, offering e-government integrated services to the public and private sector.

    Operated by the newly formed company, Silah Gulf, the centre offers the same comprehensive services at an elevated level of quality to all ministries, government and private sectors on both local and regional levels through an easy to dial number on a 24 hour basis.

    The National Contact Centre is considered as a channel that permits the Kingdom of Bahrain’s Government to expand the services it offers to its citizens, residents, visitors and businesses by ensuring the prompt as well as simple access. It is part of the main national strategic objectives of the eGovernment Authority that strives to facilitate and to enable citizens to interact with the government through telephone calls, post, emails and by fax.

  • Bahrain Public Administration Institute and eGovernment Authority implement Micro eLearning project

    A Memorandum of Understanding was signed recently between the Bahrain Public Administration Institute (Bipa) and the eGovernment Authority (eGA) to implement the Micro eLearning project on government employees.

    The signing ceremony was held at the eGovernment Authority headquarters in the presence of Bipa Director General Dr. Raed Mohammed bin Shams, the CEO of the eGovernment Authority Mr. Mohammed Ali Al Qaed, and a number of officials from both organizations.

  • Bahrain Public Administration Institute, eGovernment Authority launch project for govt staff

    Bahrain Public Administration Institute (BIPA) said it has teamed up with the Kingdom's eGovernment Authority (eGA) to implement the micro eLearning project for government employees.

    BIPA director general Dr Raed Mohammed bin Shams and eGA CEO Mohammed Ali Al Qaed signed the MoU at the eGA headquarters in the presence of officials from both organizations.

    Dr Mohammed stressed the need of continuous learning through the various elearning and etraining channels and described it as an essential part of Bipa strategy within the framework of 'Bahrain Economic Vision 2030.'

  • Bahrain Ramadan services available online

    eServices to provide a collection of Ramadan-oriented information

    Bahrain’s eGovernment Authority (eGA) has announced the release of ‘Ramadaniyat’ to provide a range of services with an application for smart devices.

    All eServices related to Ramadan are available in the 'Ramadaniyat' section on the eGA portal (bahrain.bh) and the mobile portal (bahrain.bh/mobile), the authority said.

  • Bahrain ranked 19th in the world with ‘best’ Internet services

    The International Internet Society, a non-profit organisation that sets standards and Internet policies in the world, has ranked Bahrain as 19th country in the world with the best Internet services.

    The Kingdom’s classification was based on the feedback of the society’s branch in Bahrain, and the speed of its “Internet growth” in particular, as well as its reliability, sustainability and ability to meet the requirements of data preservation and exchange.

  • Bahrain ranked amongst Top 8 countries on the Global Web Index

    The Kingdom of Bahrain has achieved an advanced rank in the UN eGovernment Survey 2014 on the eGovernment readiness and quality of eServices, were it was rated at the forefront of five geographic regions achieving rank number 18 worldwide and 1st on the the Arab and Middle East countries with its eGovernment readiness.

    The report is integral and comprehensive in measuring the readiness of eGovernment and is the only report globally that evaluates the readiness of 193 world countries and United Nations Member States. It has indicated the advancement of Bahrain on the eParticipation Index – occupying the 14th rank after it had been the 19th within the last report in 2012. Such an achievement s moved Bahrain ahead It was also classified, for the 3rd consecutive time, as one of the top 8 countries in the Global Web Index.

  • Bahrain ranked most IT-friendly in MidEast

    Bahrain has leapfrogged the UAE and Qatar to be ranked the Middle East's most IT-friendly country in a global list published by the World Economic Forum.

    The Global Information Technology Report 2012 ranked 142 economies by examining the correlation between ICT readiness and economic growth.

    In the Networked Readiness Index (NRI), Bahrain was ranked 27th globally and first in the Middle East and North Africa region, up three places on the previous year.
