  • USA: “Arkansas.gov” Named One of Best State Web Sites in the Nation

    Site Wins 3rd Place in National State Web Competition and Two Honors for Top Services

    The official Web site of the State of Arkansas (www.Arkansas.gov) has again been named one of the best state government sites in the nation. Arkansas.gov received third-place ranking by the Center for Digital Government in its annual national competition, Best of the Web. Government Web sites are evaluated based on their innovation, Web-based delivery of public services, efficiency, economy and functionality.

    A featured service in the new portal is Arkansas Works, a one-stop workforce portal designed to help Arkansans find jobs or education and training opportunities in the State.

  • USA: Alabama Wins National Award for Online Local Government Reporting Service

    Alabama's innovative online Local Government Reporting system is now an award winner. The Alabama Department of Revenue was recently named one of 13 Pioneer Award recipients by the E-Gov Institute's Government Solutions Center, which serves as an educational resource for online government providers.

    In December 2004, the Alabama Department of Revenue began providing city and county governments with an online alternative to cumbersome and costly paper tax revenue reports. The Web-based solution allows users to view reports, charts, and graphs electronically. More than 200 Alabama local governments are now using the service. The online reports require no special hardware or software and are accessible through a basic Internet connection.

  • USA: Alabama’s Official Web Site Receives National Recognition for eGovernment Excellence

    Alabama’s official Web site (www.alabama.gov) continues to be among the nation’s most honored portals for offering timesaving online government services to citizens and businesses. This year, alabama.gov has been ranked among the top eGovernment states in two national competitions.

    This month, Alabama was ranked among the top 25 most digitally advanced state governments in the Digital States Survey, a comprehensive study that examines best practices, policies, and progress made by state governments in using digital technologies to better serve constituents and streamline operations.

  • USA: California, Boston and Chesterfield County Lead 2010 Best of the Web Winners

    California, Boston and Chesterfield County, Va. took top honors from the Center for Digital Government's Best of the Web awards program, in an announcement Wednesday, Sept. 1.

    Best of the Web highlights the top 10 state, county and city portals in the nation that show the highest levels of innovation, functionality and efficiency.

    The top state honor went to California's government portal, CA.gov. Among the site's numerous new features was mobile.ca.gov, specifically designed for mobile devices.

  • USA: Charles County, Maryland, Wins Digital Counties Award Eight Years Running

    What does it take to win the Digital Counties Award -- not once, but every year since it started eight years ago? To answer that question, you'd need to talk to Charles County, Md., CIO Richard Aldridge, as Charles County is the only one to do it.

    Aldridge became CIO in 2000. "We were RPG programmers, and we had about 150 users. I promised the staff that they would never get bored and that they would be using state-of-the-art technology," said Aldridge."

  • USA: Common Cause Massachusetts honors towns for transparency

    More than a dozen MetroWest municipalities were among 117 cities and towns honored at the State House yesterday for making the workings of government more transparent by posting information online.

    The E-Government Award was developed by the nonprofit citizen lobby group Common Cause Massachusetts, which judges the effectiveness of town government Web sites in providing essential information such as agendas and meeting minutes.

    MetroWest towns made up nearly 13 percent of the towns presented with the award.

  • USA: COVITS Kicks Off With Awards

    The Commonwealth of Virginia's Information Technology Symposium (COVITS) kicked off yesterday in Richmond, Va., with a reception and technology award presentation that honored the most innovative in the public and private sector.

    For the past seven years, COVITS has examined issues and challenges facing governments and the solutions offered by the private sector. This year, the theme for the event was "The Promise of Digital Government" -- showcased by the winners of the sixth annual technology awards. The awards program honors outstanding achievements, and recognizes successful technology and economic development initiatives in the public and private sectors throughout Virginia.

  • USA: Defense projects lead 25 finalists for Excellence.gov awards

    Seven projects run by military agencies are among the 25 finalists for the Excellence.gov awards, given each year to initiatives that show the best practices of e-government.

    A panel of judges from government and industry selected the finalists for their success in adoption strategy, customer satisfaction and impact on the agency’s mission. The E-Government Shared Interest Group of the Industry Advisory Council will present awards to the five best projects at a luncheon ceremony Feb. 9 in Washington.

  • USA: Digital Government Achievement Award Winners Announced

    Winners of the 2004 Digital Government Achievement Awards (DGAA) have been announced by the Center for Digital Government. The awards program recognizes outstanding agency and department Web sites and applications that enhance interactions, transaction and/or services -- in four categories: government-to-government, government-to-citizen, government-to-business, and government internal.
  • USA: Dutchess honored for services offered online

    County is No. 8 among similar areas

    For the third year in a row, Dutchess was named one of the most digitally advanced counties in the nation, according to a national survey.

    Among counties with a population between 250,000 and 499,000, Dutchess County was ranked the eighth most digitally advanced, according to the National Association of Counties and the Center for Digital Government.

  • USA: E-Government award goes to Groton for high-tech access

    In a ceremony held at the Statehouse last week, Groton was among 72 cites and towns from across Massachusetts recognized for their efforts to use modern technology in making the workings of local government as widely available to its citizens as possible.

    The 2007 E-Government Award was given to Groton as well as other area towns such as Harvard and Dunstable by Common Cause Massachusetts, "a nonpartisan, nonprofit, government watchdog, dedicated to citizen participation in an open, honest and accountable government."

  • USA: eHealthcare Social Networking Apps Win

    The 10 annual eHealthcare Leadership Awards were announced during a special presentation at the Thirteenth Annual Healthcare Internet Conference held in November in Las Vegas, NV.

    Healthcare Organizations and Solution Providers were evaluated in 12 different categories under one of 17 classifications. An independent panel of 116 judges, specializing in healthcare, or online industries, evaluated over 1,100 entries on a standard of Internet excellence and peer excellence.

  • USA: Electronic Bench Warrants System Wins National Award

    Selected as One of the Nation’s Best State Government-to-Government Web Services

    The statewide electronic bench warrants system (eBW) was named one of the best state government-to-government Web sites in the United States, and received a 2010 Digital Government Achievement Award from the Center for Digital Government. The site was developed by eHawaii.gov in partnership with the Hawaii State Judiciary, Department of Public Safety, Honolulu Police Department, Hawaii Police Department, Kauai Police Department and Maui Police Department.

  • USA: FDA's food plant registration system wins award

    FDA Industry Systems (FIS), a global extranet used for food facility registration and prior notice of shipments for U.S. imports created under the Bioterrorism Act, was one of five government projects to receive an Excellence.Gov award from the Industry Advisory Council (IAC). The awards program, now in its fifth year, recognizes initiatives that demonstrate best practices in federal eGovernment implementations.
  • USA: FirstGov Search Engine Wins Federal Computer Week's Pioneer Award

    The U.S. General Services Administration (GSA) today announced that Federal Computer Week has honored FirstGov Search, the U.S. government's official search engine, with the prestigious Pioneer Award. The award recognizes innovative use of technology in a government program.
  • USA: Georgia: ValdostaCity.com Recognized as Top Government Website

    ValdostaCity.com has been recognized as a 2010 Top Government Website Award recipient by online encyclopedia and reference resource Juggle.com for its e-government and communication initiatives. The City of Valdosta’s website is one of nine municipal websites in Georgia recognized for a variety of site features and functionalities, including usability, timely content, access to online government services and technological innovation.

    According to Juggle.com, this year’s recipients applied innovative web technology in order to provide citizens with greater access to government information and services. ValdostaCity.com is one of several government portals embracing the commitment to e-government services making it easier to find government information.

  • USA: IN.gov Wins Gold for State Fair Website

    IN.gov receives 2010 W3 Gold Award for web creative excellence

    The International Academy of Visual Arts recognized IN.gov as winner of a 2010 W3 Gold Award for the 2010 Indiana State Fair website (www.in.gov/statefair/fair/index.html). Receiving over 3,000 entries, the W3 Awards honor creative excellence on the web, and recognizes the creative and marketing professionals behind award-winning sites.

  • USA: Inaugural eHealth Initiative Awards Honor Leadership in Health Care Quality Through Health IT

    Event Kicks-off October 11-12 eHI Fourth Annual Conference

    The eHealth Initiative (eHI) presented its first annual Improving Healthcare Quality through Information and Information Technology Awards honoring eight organizations at an October 10 awards dinner for demonstrating leadership and excellence in utilizing health information technology or health information exchange to drive improvements in the quality, safety and efficiency of healthcare. The awards event kicked-off eHI's Fourth Annual Conference taking place at the Ronald Reagan Building and International Trade Center October 11-12.

  • USA: Indiana Health Information Exchange Program Receives National Honor

    eHealth Initiative Recognizes Quality Health First (SM) Program

    The Indiana Health Information Exchange (IHIE) and the Employers’ Forum of Indiana today announced its Quality Health First program received a national award from the eHealth Initiative (eHI), a non-profit organization in Washington, D.C. that drives improvements in the quality, safety and efficiency of healthcare through information and information technology.

    www.IN.gov Earns Second Place in Best of the Web National Competition

    Indiana's official Web portal has been ranked among the best government Web sites for the third consecutive year. accessIndiana (www.IN.gov) placed second among a field of more than 300 public sector Web sites in the 2004 Best of the Web national competition for eGovernment excellence.
