  • UAE: ADSIC recognized with two prestigious WSA Arab e-Content Awards

    Abu Dhabi Systems & Information Center (ADSIC) has won two Arab e-Content Awards in the 2009 Regional World Summit Award (WSA) Competition. A ceremony was held during the opening session of Bahrain International e-Government Forum 2009, where the Abu Dhabi e-Government Portal (www.abudhabi.ae) was selected under the e-Government category while Jobs Abu Dhabi (jobs.abudhabi.ae) was selected under the e-Business category.

  • UAE: Dubai eGovernment awarded 'Best eGovernment in the Middle East' at Leaders in Dubai

    Dubai eGovernment announced today at a press conference that it has been presented with the ‘Best eGovernment Programme in the Middle East’ award during the inaugural Middle East Business Achievement Awards (MEBA Awards) at the Leaders in Dubai Summit held recently.

    The ‘Best eGovernment Programme’ award is presented to a Middle East e-government department that has demonstrated excellence in the use of the internet, and communications and information technology to provide a comprehensive range of services to the general population and business community. The award, adjudicated by a jury panel comprised of internationally-recognised personalities, considered factors such as technological innovation, level of citizen participation, integration and efficiency, and user-friendliness of services.

  • UAE: Dubai eGovernment wins Network World Middle East’s Network Security Award

    Dubai eGovernment was declared the winner of the Network World Middle East’s award for the best network security project for the year 2010 during the grand ceremony held recently at Mina A’Salam Hotel, thereby adding a new honour to its list of achievements.

    Commenting on the award, Ahmad Al Humaidan, Director-General, Dubai eGovernment said: “I congratulate the Infrastructure Management team for this award which is a result of continuous efforts that have been exerted in the field of network security projects. Dubai eGovernment has built a robust and secure Government Information Network, which has become the cornerstone of the electronic infrastructure of Dubai Government and the spinal column for connecting government and semi-government bodies at a high speed that ensures safe and cost-effective exchange of information and smooth integration for these bodies. It has also provided synergistic and shared services to the government bodies, these being the basic systems for effectively managing their internal resources, thereby enabling them to focus on discharging their direct tasks for the public and concentrate more on providing eServices to them.”

  • UAE: Dubai Municipality wins e-government portal award

    Qassim Sultan and H. H. Prince Ambassador Mohammed Bin Saud Bin Khaled. Dubai Municipality has bagged the Best Middle East e-Government Portal award during the 10th Middle East Information and Communication Technology Excellence Awards presented at a ceremony held on the sidelines of the 11th GCC e-Government Forum at Dubai World Trade Centre.

    Qassim Sultan, Director General of Dubai Municipality received the award from His Highness Prince Ambassador Mohammed Bin Saud Bin Khaled, General Manager of the Information and Studies Centre of Saudi Arabia's Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

  • UAE: Dubai Roads & Transport Authority wins 2nd place in GCC e-Government Awards

    The Dubai Roads & Transport Authority (RTA) has won the second place award in the GCC e-Government Award 2009 held recently in the Omani capital Muscat, for the category of the best electronically advanced organization (E-Maturity Class) at the GCC level following a fierce competition with several GCC Ministries and organizations.

    Submissions to the Awards were assessed by an international panel comprising members from several countries worldwide.

  • UAE: Dubai: Department of Economic Development website wins 'Best Government Website'

    www.dubaided.gov.ae adjudged best among 27 websites of government entities

    The Dubai Department of Economic Development (DED) website (www.dubaided.gov.ae) has been adjudged as the 'Best Government Website' by Dubai E-Government.

    The DED website was selected for its ease of navigation, customer-friendly initiatives and regularly updated information from 27 websites of government entities in Dubai.

  • UAE: eHosting DataFort named as 'Best Managed Service Provider of the Year'

    eHosting DataFort (eHDF), the region’s leading managed IT and advisory services provider and a member of TECOM Investments, today announced it has received the ‘Best Managed Service Provider of the Year’ distinction at the inaugural Network World Middle East awards that recognize the region’s outstanding achievers in the technology services industry.

  • UAE: Excellence Award in GIS for Abu Dhabi Systems and Information Centre

    Abu Dhabi Systems and Information Centre (ADSIC), the steward of the Abu Dhabi Spatial Data Infrastructure (AD-SDI), was awarded for 'Special Achievement in GIS' during the GIS Award Ceremony at the 40th ESRI International User Conference on July 15, 2009.

    Thousands of organizations worldwide were nominated for the "Special Achievement in GIS" award. ADSIC was recognized for setting precedents throughout the GIS community and making an extraordinary contribution to the global society.

  • UAE: FNC wins best Arab Parliament award for e-voting performance

    The Federal National Council (FNC) received the best Arab Parliament award for its electronic voting system during the last elections.

    Dr Mohammad Salem Al Mazroui, Secretary General of the FNC, received the award from Dr Mohammad Ebrahim Al Twaijeri, Assistant Undersecretary of the Arab League and Chairman or the Arab Organisation for Administrative Development.

  • UAE: GCAA's efforts applauded at premiere GCC e-Government Award ceremony

    The efforts of the General Civil Aviation Authority of the UAE (GCAA) were recognised at the premiere GCC e-Government Award ceremony, held in the Sultanate of Oman on the 23rd of December 2009. The panel of judges nominated the GCAA as 3rd place winners for the 'Best e-Content Website in the Gulf.'

    The award was presented by H.E Ahmed bin Abdulnabi Macki National Economy Minister to Eng Mohammed Saeed Al Shehhi, the IT Manager at General Civil Aviation Authority at the 1st GCC e-Government Award ceremony held at Al Bustan Palace Hotel in Oman.

    In a ceremony held at its premises here on Friday, the United Nations honoured the Dubai Municipality for wining the 2006 public services award in the area of application of information technology and telecommunications in the government sector, e-government.

    By winning the award, Dubai becomes the first Arab city to win the prestigious award.

    Dubai eGovernment was one of the finalists at the 'Best Practices in Mobile & Wireless' Awards Program organized recently by Computerworld's Mobile & Wireless World in Orlando, Florida.

    Dubai eGovernment was chosen as the finalist in the 'Managing Cellular Mobile Data' category which recognises best practices for building and managing PDA-based mobile networks designed to remain compatible with enterprise needs on a long-term basis.

  • UK Government Recognized for Excellence in Digital Identity Management

    Gateway Authentication receives the 2006 Liberty Alliance IDDY Award

    Liberty Alliance, the global identity consortium working to build a more trusted Internet for consumers, governments and businesses worldwide, today announced that the UK Government Authentication Gateway has been awarded the 2006 IDDY (Identity Deployment of the Year) Award for excellence in digital identity management. Liberty Alliance presents the IDDY Award annually to recognize outstanding digital identity management deployments based on the proven interoperable and privacy-respecting Liberty Federation and Liberty Web services specifications.   • UK: 2004 e-Government awards launched

    The first e-Government awards, designed to reward excellence in the use of internet services, have been launched by the Cabinet Office.

    The Cabinet Office anticipates the awards being a "yardstick for UK excellence" in the run up to the general election with all councils, government departments and public bodies invited to enter.

  • UK: Clackmannanshire Council Website Wins Top Prize for Accessibility

    Yesterday Clackmannanshire Council’s website (www.clacksweb.org.uk) won the Accessibility Award in the e-government Good Communication Awards 2005. After a rigorous judging process, the award was presented by Trenton Moss of Webcredible (www.webcredible.co.uk) – one of the UK’s leading consultancies for website usability and accessibility.

    Although web accessibility is about making a website accessible to all users, it’s particularly concerned with those with visual impairments or disabilities. Blind web users may use a screen reader to ‘speak’ the content of the web page to them. Partially sighted web users may use a screen magnifier, to blow up the text on screen.

  • UK: Give 'em a cheer

    Projects for criminal justice, health, immigration, central and local government have claimed prizes for the use of IT in public services at this year's Government Computing BT Awards for Innovation

    The winners – emerging from a record entry of 150 projects from 98 organisations – were announced at a gala dinner and presented by David Myers, director shared services in the Cabinet Office, at Madame Tussaud's in London on 27 April 2006.

  • UK: IDeA Knowledge nominated for Communication Award

    IDeA Knowledge has been recognised as one of the leading e-government websites in England following its nomination for a ‘Good Communication’ award.

    The website is one of five sites shortlisted for the best ‘Central Government Website’ award (non-local authority) as part of the Good Communication Awards 2005, organised by media and events company PSE Ltd. The awards recognise excellence in public sector communications and joined-up government.

  • UK: Lancaster City: Customer focused technology helps council make award finals

    Lancaster City Council has been named a finalist at the prestigious UK Communications in Business (CIB) technology awards in the category ‘Best Contact Centre Network Project/Implementation’.

    The awards are run by Communications News magazine and sponsored by a host of blue chip IT companies, including thus, O2 and nt.:Telewest. The winners will be announced on 7 September 2006.

  • UK: Local Government IT Excellence Awards – shortlist announced

    Bracknell Forest Borough Council, East Riding of Yorkshire Council and Lichfield District Council with Staffordshire-Moorlands District Council have been named 2004 short-listed entries for the prestigious Local Government IT Excellence Awards.

    Organised by Intellect, Socitm and Solace, and now in their ninth year, the awards seek to highlight the use of best practice in local government and how IT has been used both effectively and innovatively to deliver Best Value public services.
