The website is one of five sites shortlisted for the best ‘Central Government Website’ award (non-local authority) as part of the Good Communication Awards 2005, organised by media and events company PSE Ltd. The awards recognise excellence in public sector communications and joined-up government.
Today, the site is the leading online resource for local government in England and Wales. It has attracted more than 60,000 registered users since going live four years ago, and has become a primary online information source for councillors across the country and beyond.
IDeA Knowledge delivers forward thinking and in-depth content on improvement issues, shares examples of good practice from councils across England and Wales, and provides information on the IDeA’s range of tools and services. IDeA Knowledge aims to stimulate and support self-sustaining improvement within local government.
In February 2005, IDeA Knowledge was relaunched with a new look and a new format, which merged the original site’s focus on best practice sharing with the easy-access approach of the IDeA corporate website.
IDeA Knowledge can be accessed at www.idea.gov.uk.
The Good Communication Awards 2005 ceremony will take place on November 7 in central London, and will be hosted by Phil Woolas MP, Minister for Local Government. A panel of communication experts will judge the awards, representing the areas of local and central government, leading technology organisations, trade associations and marketing/PR.
