Pushing Thailand towards the next generation of smart cities

Huawei strengthens its position on fully enabling Thailand to become a smart city, showcasing various innovations and cutting-edge technology and partnering up with Digital Economy Promotion Agency (depa) to set up a special "Thailand Smart City Expo 2023" seminarand accelerating digital transformation for the cities in Thailand.

The Digital Economy and Society Ministry (DES) on November 20 incentivised smart city development by offering a 50% cut in corporate tax for three years.

DES Minister Prasert Chanthararuangthong announced the move during a seminar titled “Thailand Smart City 2024” in Bangkok.

Prasert said the Pheu Thai-led government is focusing on developing provincial hubs into smart cities in seven fields – transport, energy, economy, citizen, living, public services, and the environment.

Island-wide closed-circuit television (CCTV) could well become a realisation as part of the Phuket Smart City project, officials announced yesterday (Nov 10).

A meeting overseen by Phuket Governor Sophon Suwannarat yesterday was held to set urban development goals which would see widespread implementation of innovative technology, including CCTV cameras across the island.

Thailand’s National Health Security Office (NHSO) is set to improve its services in alignment with the new government‘s policy, according to the NHSO secretary-general, Jadet Thammathataree. The planned modifications pertain to the universal healthcare package, commonly referred to as the gold card scheme and the digital transformation of the NHSO system.

The NHSO has recently engaged in discussions with the newly appointed Public Health Minister, Cholnan Srikaew, to explore healthcare policies requiring the agency’s cooperation. The primary concentration of these policies is on universal healthcare and the digital transformation of the system.
