An e-Procurement system for the implementation of the E-Business project at the Home Affairs department of the Prime Minister's Office was launched yesterday at the Treasury Building in Port Louis. This system will enable bidders to submit their bids online on the Government e-Procurement portal.

The following services will be accessed on a 24-hour basis around the world and all documents will be sent and processed online: Issue of Citizenship Certificate; Issue of Certificate under the Non-Citizenship Property Restriction Act; Issue of Apostille Certificate under the Hague Convention; Processing of Residence Permit; Processing of Visa; and Processing of request to access VIP/State lounge at the airport.

The Registrar-General Department (RGD) of Mauritius will implement the first phase of its e-services next year.

A one-day workshop on the Mauritius e-Registry Project (MeRP) at the Registrar-General Department (RGD) was this week for the staff of the department. The first phase of the project will be implemented in January 2014.

The objective of the workshop was to apprise the staff of the different aspects of the project and the benefits to be derived thereafter. Some 150 officers participated in the workshop aimed to familiarising themselves on the new eservices to be provided under the MeRP.

LINK Development, a provider of integrated technology solutions across the Middle East, Africa and Gulf regions, in collaboration with FRCI, the local partner in Mauritius, recently celebrated the launch of the new portals platform of the Republic of Mauritius (www.gov.mu) that provides a single point of entry for all government services and information.

Mauritius e-Government portals platform, which includes the government's internet, intranet portals, and a large set of e-services, was unveiled during a recent launching event by the Mauritian Minister of ICT.

The Mauritius Revenue Authority (MRA) had received, by Thursday evening, around 32,500 individual income tax returns filed electronically for the e-filing season 2013 ending April 1, sources informed The Independent.

Around 137,000 returns are expected for this season, in parallel with the 137,000 e-mailers containing a user ID and password to register for MRA e-services the Authority dispatched to taxpayers this year.
