The progress on the implementation was discussed with H.E. In den deutschen Einwohnermeldeämtern herrscht derzeit Hochbetrieb: Viele Bundesbürger haben in den vergangenen Tagen und Wochen noch einen "alten" Reisepass beantragt, denn ab dem 1. November können nur noch die neuen, teureren Reisepässe mit "biometrischen Merkmalen" bestellt werden.
