The Office of Management and Budget is looking to link all federal agencies to a Web site that allows users to submit electronic rulemaking comments by fiscal 2007, the nation's top administrator for e-government said Monday.

The agency launched regulation.gov in 2003, but much of the work on the Web site would be considered "foundational work," Karen Evans said during a Capitol Hill e-rulemaking symposium. E-government "now is really focused on getting results."

The acceleration in the deployment of WiMAX, the latest wireless technology, by the Goverment is one way of increasing the rate of personal computer and Internet adoption across the country, says the world’s biggest chipmaker Intel Corp.

The company, whose Asian Broadband Campaign involves working with South-East Asian governments in stepping up wireless broadband deployment, believes that WiMAX can serve as the basis in helping governments achieve the goal of having digital inclusion.

Well, perhaps we need not dream anymore for this is all bound to become reality soon. Some of these online features and functions have actually been implemented already, although it seems few are aware of this. The drive to provide the Kingdom with such services is known as the e-Government Initiative.

The State Services Commission is championing an open source solution for content management needs in state agencies.

State Services Commission Deputy Director for ICT Laurence Millar said today that the SSC was releasing to other government agencies the open source code for a government web guidelines compliant content management system (CMS) based on Plone.
