Banská Bystrica’s regional government held an electronic public procurement auction for the first time in its history this week, the TASR newswire was told by the region’s spokesman, Peter Hajnala, on November 10.
Hajnala said that by launching the e-auction on four contracts, the regional government managed to save almost €47,000 within four hours. The regional president, Vladimír Manka, said that 36.74 percent of financial resources were saved in the reconstruction of a secondary school in Revúca via the e-auction. Originally, the region was supposed to pay about €265,000 for reconstruction of school facilities in Revúca, Banská Bystrica and Rimavská Sobota but it managed to lower the price by nearly €47,000 by using the new process.
