  • E-govt security strategy formed Bahrain

    The Central Information Organisation has completed the security strategy for government information in cooperation with international companies in the field. The CIO head, Shaikh Ahmed bin Atiyatallah Al Khalifa, stressed the importance of implementing the strategy for the success of the e-government project.
  • E-paper passenger displays part of Bahrain smart city transition

    Solar powered e-paper displays are being rolled out across the transport system in Bahrain, as part of its smart city initiative Spark City (Gulf).

    A deal was struck between London-based Papercast and the Bahrain government’s Ministry of Transportation and Telecommunication, to replace paper bus timetables with its 13” outdoor displays.

  • e-Tendering vow by Bahrain

    Bahrain is offering e-Tendering tips to private companies to enable them to capture a bigger share of government contracts.

    More than 300 companies are to be trained in using the online system, as part of the first batch.

    This follows the signing of a memorandum of understanding by the Tender Board and the Labour Fund to train owners and employees from the private sector on navigating the e-Tendering process.

  • EDB launches Bahrain events eService

    Bahrain’s Economic Development Board (EDB), in collaboration with the eGovernment Authority, has launched Bahrain Events Calendar - a planner that helps search for activities like conferences and exhibitions.

    The calendar aims to enhance joint co-ordination between government and non-government entities to set the right timeframes to organise events and activities to avoid conflict between concurrent events in terms of content or targeted audiences.

  • Effective participation in the Bahrain International eGovernment Forum 2014 workshops

    Specialized workshops were launched yesterday (Tuesday) at the Bahrain International eGovernment Forum 2014, and will be conducted over two days to discuss the most prominent topics related to Enterprise IT Governance for Control and Value Creation, Social Media Toolkit, Leadership in Information Technology, eContent Management, eGovernment Success Stories and Global Trends, Mobile Apps, along with Agile Business Analysis & Improvements. While the 8th workshop entitled Innovation and Entrepreneurship in ICT Environment Forum will be conducted today.

    The Mobile Apps workshop revealed that the number of smart devices sold worldwide every day outweighs the number of born babies. Workshop speakers Ilie Ghiciuc, Founder & COO of Thinslices; and Vlad Bodi, CEO and Founder of Hppy highlighted rising penetration of tablet devices that surpasses the sales of smart mobile phones; they recommended that specific design criteria features must be taken into account, in addition to observing the most important global trends in mobile phone.

  • eGovernment Authority celebrates Bahraini Women’s Day

    Coinciding with the Bahraini Women’s Day commemoration held on December 1st, eGovernment Authority (eGA) celebrated and honored its females employees, highlighting the important role of women in society and their significant influence in the development and cultural advancements of the Kingdom as well as their impact in the government and private sectors.

    On this occasion, the Authority hosted a staff function for their females employees where Dr. Zakareya Ahmed Alkhaja Vice CEO of the eGovernment Authority, attended the function along with senior officials from the Authority. The female employees were awarded with gifts and tokens of appreciation.

  • eGovernment Authority in Bahrain holds special workshop for enterprise architecture project

    A special workshop was held by the eGovernment Authority in Bahrain to mark the end of the second phase of the Enterprise Architecture Project.

    The second phase, which involved assessing the current ICT platforms in all government ministries, then designing the ideal architecture of these platforms under one unified framework for all policies and applications, was carried by joint work groups from the ministries and government agencies and announcing the move to phase three.

  • eGovernment Authority in Bahrain speaks at Gulf eCommerce Forum 2009

    The eGovernment Authority in Bahrain shared its expertise with distinguished delegates from across the GCC and the region at the 3rd Gulf eCommerce Forum 2009, held from November 24th - 25th at the Bahrain International Exhibition Center under the patronage of His Excellency Dr. Hassan bin Abdullah Fakhro, Minister of Industry and Commerce in the Kingdom of Bahrain.

    The theme of the Forum, 'Electronic Portals: A Future Look', is a topic the eGovernment Authority is intimately familiar with. The eGovernment National Portal (Bahrain.bh), launched in November 2008, was a landmark event, being the first of the four main service delivery channels in the eGovernment strategy, the other three being the mobile gateway, common service centers, and national contact center.

  • eGovernment Authority of Bahrain signs agreement with CrediMax

    eGovernment Authority in Bahrain yesterday (eGA) signed an agreement with CrediMax, Bahrain's leading credit card issuer and acquirer, to finance the eKiosks project across the Kingdom of Bahrain; in another leading initiative towards facilitating the public access to eGovernment services.

    Mohammed Al Qaed, CEO of the eGA, and Mohammed Malik, CE of CrediMax signed the agreement.

  • eGovernment forum begins in Bahrain

    The eighth Bahrain International eGovernment Forum opens today at the Isa Cultural Centre and Bahrain International Circuit.

    Held under the patronage of Deputy Premier Shaikh Mohammed bin Mubarak Al Khalifa, the five-day event aims to bring together the brightest minds and latest solutions in eGovernment, with a particular focus on the private sector and the theme "Smart Cities - Beyond Innovation", reported the Gulf Daily News, our sister publication.

  • Focus on Bahrain’s public sector eTransformation

    ‘eTransformation in Public Sector’ will be the focus of the upcoming Bahrain International eGovernment Forum on its first day.

    The ministerial panel discussion in the forum taking place on 7th & 8th October will be led by Shaikh Khalid bin Ali bin Abdullah Al Khalifa, the Minister of Justice & Islamic Affairs along with Zayed bin Rashed AlZayani, the Minister of Industry, Commerce and Tourism.

  • GCC eGovernment CEOs learn about Quduart eTraining experience

    In line with the 11th meeting of the GCC eGovernment Executive Committee hosted by the Kingdom of Bahrain represented by the eGovernment Authority (eGA), GCC delegates attended AlHekma Society for the Retired's graduation ceremony of the third batch of trainees enrolled in the eTraining program (Qudurat) which aims to eliminate computer illiteracy.

    They also attended the opening of Capability Building computer labs for eTraining which is equipped by the eGovernment Authority at the society's headquarters.

  • GCC urged to learn from Bahrain's ICT experience

    GCC countries should learn from advancements made by Bahrain in the field of information communication technology (ICT), said a top official.

    Transportation Minister Kamal Ahmed said Bahrain had taken great strides in making the latest in ICT available to people.

    He was speaking at the opening session of Meet ICT - an annual gathering of ICT professionals and experts from Bahrain and the region, which is being organised by Gulf Future Business in co-operation with Bahrain ICT Suppliers Trade Association (BISTA).

  • Go online for passport and visa services in Bahrain: NPRA

    The Nationality, Passports and Residence Affairs (NPRA) said that the number of visitors in the service centres in Muharraq and Isa Town would be reduced to preserve the safety of everyone based on the recommendations of the National Medical Team.

    NPRA called on the public to use the available electronic platforms to provide services to avoid crowding and to quicken the completion of transactions.

  • Govt tendering in Bahrain went electronic today and a new portal was also launched

    The Tender Board today launched phase I of the eTendering System in coordination with the eGovernment Authority (eGA), in the presence of Deputy Prime Minister and Chairman of the Supreme Committee of Information and Communication Technology, Shaikh Mohammed bin Mubarak Al Khalifa.

    The Deputy Prime Minister also launched the Tender Board portal www.tenderboard.gov.bh.

    Shaikh Mohammed told the Bahrain News Agency (BNA), “This is stage one. The next step we believe is to move forward improving and developing because we believe that this is the course that we should follow in the 21st century.

  • Graduates in Bahrain asked to use eServices

    eServices allow graduates to complete all procedures without having to physically visit service centers and offices

    School and university graduates are invited to finalise their graduation requirements through a bundle of eServices offered via the national portal, bahrain.bh.

  • H.H. Shaikh Mohammed bin Mubarak Al Khalifa honors winners of Bahrain and Arab eContent Awards 2013

    H.H. Shaikh Mohammed bin Mubarak Al Khalifa, Deputy Prime Minister, Chairman of the Supreme Committee for Information and Communications Technology (SCICT) honored the winners of the Arab eContent Awards 2013 and Bahrain eContent Awards 2013 at the hosting ceremony held in Bahrain yesterday. The event, under the patronage of H.H. Shaikh Mohammed, was organized by the Bahrain Internet Society (BIS), in cooperation with the eGovernment Authority (eGA) and the World Summit Award (WSA).

    On this occasion, H.H. Sheikh Mohammed Bin Mubarak Al Khalifa stated that Bahrain has embraced the idea of enhancing eContent with its efforts to keep abreast of the latest developments and create a knowledge-driven economy by supporting the development of a stimulating environment acting as a catalyst to promote creativity and engagement of youths in all fields of scientific advancements, including developing and designing the eContent, as well as putting a significant imprint of our identity on the international technology map.

  • Heralding the cyber era of governance - Bahrain

    With the news to have the smart card compulsory by next month, Bahrain is just one step away from a completely digitised economy. The law making smart card mandatory will make the Kingdom ahead of many countries in the region to switch over to the new digital economy. This smart card technology is much safer in use and there are minimal chances of frauds in financial transactions as well as in day-to-day affairs.

    The director of technical resources and head of Smart Card project at the Kingdom's Central Informatic Organisation (CIO), Elham Mohammed Saleh, says switching over to the smart card technology is a step forward to achieving excellence in this highly specialised segment of the cyber age.

  • Huge savings expected from Bahrain's new e-government portal

    Bahrain's new e-government portal, launched last month, is expected to help the government cut expenses up to 90 per cent, according to the official spokesman for Bahrain's eGovernment services.

    'Bahrain is a small country and we do not have mass production, but we are talking of savings of 90 to 95 per cent on overhead costs,' Mohammed al-Qaed told Deutsche Presse-Agentur dpa this week.

  • iGA urges Public to Complete Transactions via Bahrain.bh

    With the current situation at hand & in line with its commitment to protect its employees and the public, the Information eGovernment Authority (iGA) urges the public to complete their ID Card transactions through the National Portal, bahrain.bh.

    The National Portal offers more than 10 Identity card services in both English and Arabic, including ID renewals issuance of replacement cards; issuance of cards for domestic workers, children under 4 years old and others under applicants’ custodies; enquiries about application statuses; and a range of other services that spare users from physically visiting the ID Card Centers.
