The Central Information Organisation has completed the security strategy for government information in cooperation with international companies in the field. The CIO head, Shaikh Ahmed bin Atiyatallah Al Khalifa, stressed the importance of implementing the strategy for the success of the e-government project. "The implementation of the strategy will represent 20 per cent of the total budget allocated for the completion of the e-government project," Shaikh Ahmed said. He said that the organisation would soon float tenders for the implementation of the strategy.

"The tenders will include measures and policies for securing information, a government security network, training programmes, data categorisation, regulation, outside security and infrastructure," Shaikh Ahmed said.

He said that a number of steps would be taken to protect the network such as the creation of firewalls and password security.

Shaikh Ahmed said the new strategy would help facilitate the work process, expand services and bolster the process of linking government activities through various networks.
