About 7,000 transactions related to General Directorate of Passports are executed daily through Metrash 2 mobile application, a senior official at the Department said.
'Metrash 2 mobile application was launched in December 2011 with just a few of services but quickly it developed, and today it provides about 153 e-services, available in six languages. Currently, around 400,000 active e-service users are availing its services, Major Tareq Issa Al Aqidi officer at the Department said yesterday in induction seminar for companies held at the General Directorate of Traffic. Regarding visa services, the Department executes more than 215,000 transactions and over 160,000 leave notification services every month.

he Ministry of Interior has added two new services to its website and mobile app Metrash 2. New services are related to issuing and reactivating the Residency Permit (RP).
It will enable expatriates to get new residency permit and will allow them to reactivate the RP.

Emir of Kuwait H H Sheikh Sabah Al Ahmad Al Jaber Al Sabah honoured Qatar’s official e-Government Portal (Hukoomi) and the smart phone application of the Ministry of Interior (Metrash 2) for winning the 2017 H H Sheikh Salem Al Ali Al Sabah Informatics Award in the “Government Sector” category.
The Minister of Transport and Communications H E Jassim Saif Ahmed Al Sulaiti and Director General of Public Security Staff Major General H E Saad bin Jassem Al Khulaifi received the awards at a ceremony organised at Bayan Palace in the capital Kuwait yesterday. The Minister of Transport and Communications expressed thanks and appreciation to the Emir of Kuwait for his patronage and continuing encouragement to the Award, as well as to H H Sheikh Salem Al Ali Al Sabah. The Minister also thanked organisers of the event for their efforts and successful organisation.

Qatar Islamic Bank (QIB), has introduced facial recognition capabilities, Face ID, in its iOS and Android Mobile App, making it the first Bank in Qatar to allow the facial recognition technology feature on all smartphone devices.
Instead of customers logging into their accounts with their username and password each time they open the QIB Mobile App, they can now use their Face ID to login in a simple and secured manner.

The Qatar Official e-Government Portal (Hukoomi) has won the 2017 His Highness Sheikh Salem Al Ali Al Sabah Informatics Award, among other winners, in the “Government Sector” category.
Nine tech projects from Gulf countries have won Awards in their 17th edition and they will be honored at the annual ceremony in Kuwait this November 29.
