  • South Korea signs E-Govt MOU with East Africa

    Seoul Metropolitan Government Mayor Oh Se-hoon has signed a memorandum of understanding to increase mutual cooperation in e-government technology and other areas of interest with East African Community (EAC) Secretary General Richard Sezibera.

    The EAC, which consists of the republics of Kenya, Uganda, Rwanda and Burundi and Tanzania, was formed to promote regional cooperation and development.

    Sunyoung Jung, Assistant of Seoul Government CIO Dr. Jong-Sung Hwang, told FutureGov, “Together, the EAC and Seoul Metropolitan Government shall strive to work together to enhance e-government for development, establish and strengthen the Information Management Services in the EAC organs, institutions and other relevant institutions in the partner states, with the aim of achieving a paperless EAC, work together to support the development and deployment of key e-government applications, and build ICT Institutional Capacity for the EAC.”

  • South Korea to Help Vietnam Establish State Data Center

    Korea will help Vietnam establish a state information and technology center, the Ministry of Public Administration and Security announced Sunday.

    The two countries have started a feasibility study for the Vietnamese Government Information Data Center (GIDC) to determine whether or not one would be practical in the Southeast Asian country.

  • South Korea, Italy to collaborate on e-govt projects

    Korea and Italy have signed a memorandum of understanding on bilateral cooperation on e-government at Palazzo Vidoni in Rome, Ministry of Public Administration and Security (MOPAS) of Korea said.

    MOPAS Minister Maeng Hyung-kyu and his Italian counterpart Minister for Public Administration and Innovation Renato Brunetta have met to exchange views on the programmes of modernization and digitalization of the public sector of both countries.

    After the meeting, the two ministers signed the MOU on issues of e-government and innovation that will allow for collaborations and exchange of experience in the fields of health, education, justice and security.

  • South Korea, Italy to Cooperate on E-Government Programs

    Korea and Italy have signed a memorandum of understanding on strengthening cooperation in the e-government sector.

    The Ministry of Public Administration and Security said Thursday that Minister Maeng Hyung-kyu and his Italian counterpart Renato Brunetta agreed to collaborate on e-government programs.

  • South Korea, Japan to sign e-government deal

    Korea is set to export its e-government systems to Japan, one hundred years after it was forced to adopt Japan's administrative system and rules under its colonial occupation.

    Korea and Japan will sign an agreement on e-government cooperation and technological exchange later this month, according to a government source.

    Korean IT companies have sold electronic government systems to Japan's local governments since 2004, but it will be the first such deal between the central governments of the two countries.

  • South Korea, Nigeria Collaborate On E-Government Master Plan

    The federal government has contracted the Korea International Cooperation Agency (KOICA) to develop an e-Government master plan as part of the global best practices obtained world over.

    This was disclosed by the minister of communication technology, Omobola Johnson, during a strategy workshop on master plan for e-government in Nigeria, organised by the ministry of communication technology in collaboration with KOICA and Sangmyung University, South Korea in Abuja.

  • Syria, Lebanon Discuss Regional and International Communications Networking

    Syria and Lebanon discussed on Monday the necessary mechanisms for implementing a unified strategy for regional and international communications networking, in addition to evaluating the current state of networking and exchanging expertise.

    During the meeting of the Syrian-Lebanese Communications Committee, Syrian Minister of Communications and Technology Imad Sabouni underlined the importance of exchanging ideas, coordinating and implementing a joint strategy to improve communications services in light of the rapid developments in this field.

  • Taiwan seeks to boost its Information and Communications Technology ties with Oman

    With Oman reaching the top position in the region recently in terms of providing e-services to its citizens, a group of entrepreneurs from Information and Communications Technology (ICT) sector and a think-tank from Taiwan have expressed a keen interest in opportunities for partnership and cooperation with the country.

    A group of ICT experts, including those from the Institute for Information Industry (III), visited Oman to explore avenues for joint venture and other forms of cooperation. They held a "Taiwan Smart ICT to Go" workshop and a partnership or match-making event in the city recently.

  • Telmin adopts Asean ICT Masterplan 2015

    The 10th Asean Telecommunications and Information Technology Ministers Meeting (Telmin) yesterday adopted and launched the Asean ICT Masterplan 2015 (AIM 2015).

    A symbolic launching ceremony was held at the Royal Chulan Hotel here where all the 10 Asean ministers or their representatives, were invited to place their right palms on a panel dubbed “the circle of solidarity” which have each country’s flag, witnessed by about 500 guests.

    The ministers later received the AIM 2015, titled “We’re Stronger When We’re Connected” from Malaysian Information Communication and Culture Minister Datuk Seri Dr Rais Yatim.

    Wer in Weimar wohnt und in Erfurt arbeitet, scheiterte häufig an den Öffnungszeiten der Stadtverwaltung, wenn er sein Auto zulassen wollte. Und Frau Meier aus Nohra musste gar nach Apolda fahren und das nahe Weimar links liegen lassen. Das soll anders werden. Die Stadtverwaltung habe gestern beschlossen, ihm Rahmen der Verwaltungskooperation sich an fünf Projekten zu beteiligen - darunter eine gemeinsame Zulassungsstelle, bestätigte gestern OB Stefan Wolf (SPD).

  • Towards Strengthening Brunei-India Cooperation In ICT

    Minister of Communications Pehin Orang Kaya Seri Kerna Dato Seri Setia Hj Awg Abu Bakar Hj Apong, who is also the chairman of AiTi, underscored that the Interactive Workshop on Optimising ICT Brunei India Cooperation yesterday was a significant milestone in the Brunei-India ICT Cooperation following the signing of Memorandum of Understanding for Cooperation in ICT on May 22, 2008 in New Delhi, India.

    "I was made to understand that today's event was built upon an India-Brunei ICT panel discussion held last month on the scope and potential for cooperation in ICT between our two countries including ways in which India and Brunei can work together in further developing our respective ICT industries."

  • Transfer von EU-Polizeidaten in Drittstaaten soll nicht reguliert werden

    Die deutsche EU-Ratspräsidentschaft hat die EU-Kommission aufgefordert, einen neuen Entwurf für einen Rahmenbeschluss des Ministergremiums zum Datenschutz bei der polizeilichen und justiziellen Zusammenarbeit vorzulegen. Dies geht aus einem Ratsdokument (PDF-Datei) hervor, das die britische Bürgerrechtsvereinigung Statewatch veröffentlicht hat. Zuvor hatte die zivilgesellschaftliche Organisation befürchtet, dass die Bundesregierung den bereits an sich "schwachen" Vorstoß zum besseren Schutz sensibler Polizeidaten komplett unter den Tisch fallen lassen und durch die weniger weitgehenden Datenschutzregeln aus dem umstrittenen Vertrag von Prüm zur stärkeren Vernetzung der EU-Strafverfolgungsbehörden ersetzen wolle.
  • UAE: Abu Dhabi Tourism Authority , Abu Dhabi Chamber of Commerce and Industry sign MoU

    The Abu Dhabi Tourism Authority (ADTA) has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Abu Dhabi Chamber of Commerce and Industry (ADCCI) to facilitate the online completion of formalities for the issuance of new and renewal of existing licenses for the tourism-related activities in the Emirate of Abu Dhabi.

    The unique facility of its kind is expected to become operational in a month's time and will eliminate the need of personal visits to both the offices by the license-holders or their representatives to get the work done.

  • UAE: Credit bureau in data-sharing deal

    Emcredit, the UAE’s first credit bureau, has signed a deal with Dubai eGoverment that paves the way for government departments to share credit and business information with it. The deal, dubbed as a ‘technical integration agreement’, will allow this information to be used in Emcredit’s credit reports. The information sharing is also expected to help Emcredit create other products that can be used by commercial entities and credit providers, the credit bureau said.

    “This is in line with the Dubai Strategic Plan which calls for greater transparency and accountability in all government sectors,” Salem Khamis Al-Shair, eServices director at Dubai eGovernment, said. “Our integration platform has been utilised effectively by other government departments for seamless transactions and will now be used to create a secure, unified credit reporting solution.

  • UAE: DC World, Dubai e-Government sign MoU on cooperation

    Dubai Customs World (DC World), a business unit of Dubai World, and Dubai e-Government signed last week a Memorandum of Understanding outlining the prospects for cooperation between them.

    The MoU, which was signed by Hamad Fadhel Al Mazrooei, CEO, DC World, and Salem Al Shair, Director, eServices, Dubai eGovernment, calls on the two parties to share their 'knowledge, capabilities, best practices and services to expedite the implementation of the identified areas of cooperation.'

  • UAE: DM, MoL to work together on labour inspection, e-services

    Dubai Municipality and the Ministry of Labour will enhance cooperation and jointly work in the fields of labour inspection and online services, it was announced yesterday.

    The decision came at a meeting of Hussain Nasser Lootah, Acting Director-General of Dubai Municipality, with Dr Ali bin Abdullah Al Kaabi, Minister of Labour, which was also attended by Ahmed Kajour and Yousuf AbdulGhani, Assistant Undersecretaries at the Ministry of Labour, and Abdullah AbdulRahim Katit, Director of Services and Supplies at the ministry.

  • UAE: Dubai Police enters into strategic partnership with Emcredit

    Emcredit, the UAE's first private credit information company, announced today that it has formalised a data sharing agreement with Dubai Police. The agreement also paves the way for Emcredit to develop other information based solutions such as fraud detection solutions.

    This announcement was made today at a press conference at Dubai Police headquarters. The agreement was signed by Maj. Gen Khamis Mattar Al Mazeina, Deputy Chief of Dubai Police, and Mr. Ali Ibrahim, Managing Director of Emcredit.

  • UAE: Federal and Dubai e-Gov't departments meet to discuss future cooperation

    The UAE federal e-Government represented by the Ministry of Finance and Industry (MOFI) and Dubai e-Government have begun a series of meetings that will eventually witness further cooperating between the two entities to enhance the implementation of e-Government initiatives at the federal level.
  • UAE: Ministry of Finance and GIA discuss cooperation in using the second generation of e-Dirham

    A delegation from the Ministry of Finance and the National Bank of Abu Dhabi (NBAD) has visited the General Information Authority (GIA) to explore potential cooperation in the application of the electronic payment systems and the use of the second generation of the e-Dirham at the level of federal ministries and entities.

    The visiting delegation included Faisal Al Mansouri, Director of Revenue Development Department at the Ministry of Finance, Emad Ahmed Abdul Wahabm e-Dirham Project Manager at the Ministry, Ahmed Al Naqbi, Senior Manager, Channels and Electronic Banking Services at National Bank of Abu Dhabi and Rania Al Fayed, e-Dirham Project Manager at NBAD.

    H.E. Salem Khamis Al Shair Al Suwaidi, Director General of the General Information Authority welcomed the visiting delegation and expressed readiness of GIA to work closely with the Ministry of Finance to enhance electronic payment in the UAE and support the adoption of the second generation of e-Dirham in all government entities in the UAE.

  • UAE: South Korean delegation shares eGovernance experience with Dubai eGovernment

    A South Korean delegation led by Dr. Kim Chang-Kon, President, National Information Society Agency, recently met with Salem Al Shair, eServices Director, Dubai eGovernment, to share South Korea's eGovernance experience with Dubai.

    The two parties were involved in a series of discussions and exchanged views with an aim to strengthen each other's eGovernment infrastructure.
