  • New Zealand: Collaboration between government agencies for e-governance project

    Government agencies in New Zealand (NZ) are set to begin sharing their resources. State Services Minister Trevor Mallard said that the NZ$14 million e-government project would improve collaboration between government agencies and reduce unnecessary costs and duplication of effort.

    The initiative involves the implementation of a fibre-optic network to link up agencies located in Wellington and the installation of a wide area network (WAN) to connect regional government offices.

  • Nigeria Mulls Collaboration With India, Indonesia On ICT for Mass Literacy

    The Federal Government has said it is exploring the possibility of collaborating with India and Indonesia on the use of information and communication technology (ICT) to enhance mass literacy delivery among women, girls and the marginalised rural population.

    The Minister of Education, Prof. Ruqayyatu Ahmed Rufa'i, said this while speaking at the opening session of the ninth E-9 Ministerial Review in New Delhi, India, recently where she added that Nigeria was adopting an integrated approach to mass literacy.

  • NO: Report identifies huge potential in increasing the ICT cooperation between municipalities

    A report commissioned by the Norwegian government has concluded that increasing ICT cooperation in the municipal sector and between central and local governments could lead to substantial benefits, it was announced in March 2011.

    The report, entitled 'Joint ICT development in the municipal sector', describes the opportunities and challenges offered by ICT in local government. It was compiled by an independent consulting company, and was presented to Rigmor Aasrud,​​ the Minister of Government Administration and Church Affairs, on Friday 4 March 2011.

    Anlässlich eines Workshops zur Zusammenarbeit zwischen Land und Kommunen in Sachen E-Government, den das Informationsbüro d-NRW in Zusammenarbeit mit der KDVZ Citkomm im Sitzungssaal des Soester Kreishauses durchführte, hat der Soester Kreisdirektor Dr. Wolfgang Maas dazu aufgerufen, das Zukunftsfeld E-Government „konzertiert“ zu beackern.

  • Nordrhein-Westfalen: Verkürzter Datenverkehr

    Die Kommunale Datenverarbeitungszentrale Neuss ( KDVZ ) und das Straßenverkehrsamt des Rhein-Kreises Neuss koordinieren seit August 13 Kfz-Zulassungsstellen im Rhein-Ruhr-Gebiet. In einem Kompetenz-Zentrum werden die Daten von 3,1 Millionen Autos verwaltet.

    Total vernetzt präsentiert sich seit dem 1. August das Straßenverkehrsamt des Rhein-Kreises Neuss. In Kooperation mit der Kommunalen Datenverarbeitungszentrale Neuss (KDVZ) koordiniert das Amt nun die Computerprogramme von 13 Kfz-Zulassungsstellen im Rhein-Ruhr-Gebiet. 3,1 Millionen Autos wird die Software mit dem selbstbewussten Namen „OK.Vorfahrt“ verwalten. Es gilt das Prinzip Arbeitsteilung.

  • NZ: Councils agree to closer ties

    Fears over governance have held councils back from closer co-operation, says Marlborough District Council chief executive Andrew Besley.

    At its community and financial planning committee meeting yesterday, the council took the first step towards co-operation and shared services by approving a memorandum of understanding (MOU) between Marlborough, Nelson and Tasman councils.

    Mr Besley said the council had been looking at opportunities with the Nelson and Tasman councils for a while now. "Over the years, we have had various shared services of various types with them - insurance being the most important in recent times."

  • Oman: ITA, IDA Singapore sign MoU for e-government

    Information Technology Authority (ITA) has signed a Memorandum of Understanding with Infocommunications Development Authority (IDA), Singapore. Dr Salim al Ruzaiqi, CEO of ITA, and Seah Chin Siong, CEO of IDA, signed the agreement on Sunday. Signing of the MoU is part of the agenda of the delegation from IDA headed by Seah Chin Siong, CEO, who is on two-day official visit to the Sultanate. Yip Kong Ban, Director of IDA, and Syed Faruk, Executive Consultant of IDA, are other senior members of the delegation.

  • Oman's ITA, IDA Singapore collaborate to strengthen education sector

    The Information Technology Authority (ITA) in Oman and Infocomm Development Authority (IDA) of Singapore recently strengthened their collaboration in infocomm technology (ICT) for the education sector in Oman through a joint e-Education seminar, which was held alongside Comex 2013 ICT expo.

    The e-Education seminar was aimed at offering an information platform on how technology can support academic approaches and enrich the learning environment for students and teachers, a press release said.

  • Österreichische Reisepässe auch in Deutschland

    Pilotprojekt zwischen Wien und Berlin geplant

    Österreicher sollen bei deutschen Behörden und Deutsche bei österreichischen Behörden Reisepässe beantragen können. Ein entsprechendes Pilotprojekt besprachen Außenminister Michael Spindelegger (ÖVP) und sein deutscher Amtskollege Frank-Walter Steinmeier am Freitag in Berlin.

  • Ostthüringen: www.kommunenonline.de startet

    Heute (15. September) startet das neue Internetportal www.kommunenonline.de für die Region Ostthüringen. Mit der gemeinsamen Plattform haben Jena, Gera, Altenburg und der Landkreis Altenburger Land einen neuen Weg eingeschlagen und wollen künftig einen verbesserten Bürgerservice im Internet bieten.

    Auf dem Portal stellen die Partner über die Grenzen der jeweiligen Kommune hinweg Angebote für Bürger und andere Nutzer zur Verfügung. Einen Schwerpunkt der gemeinsamen Plattform bilden der Veranstaltungskalender für die Region und der Bürger-Service. Mit zentralen Anlaufstellen für verschiedene Bürgeranliegen im Bereich des e-government soll die Rolle als Dienstleister gestärkt werden, dazu zählt beispielsweise das Online-Fundbüro, die Kfz-Zulassung oder Online-Urkundenbestellung. Die Nutzer können sich außerdem in kompakter Form über die Region Ostthüringen und insbesondere über die beteiligten Städte informieren.

    Im September startet die Internetplattform des Landkreises Altenburger Land und der Städte Altenburg, Jena und Gera, teilte Geras Oberbürgermeister Dr. Norbert Vornehm mit. Mit ihrem gemeinsamen Vorgehen hätten die Kommunen einen ungewöhnlichen Weg eingeschlagen. Es sei organisatorisch und finanziell sinnvoll, das komplizierte Feld von E-Government-Lösungen für die kommunale Verwaltung gemeinsam zu bestellen, betonte Dr. Vornehm. Mit dem gemeinsamen Internetportal stellten die Partner über die Grenzen der jeweiligen Kommune hinaus Angebote für Bürgerinnen und Bürger sowie andere Nutzer bereit.

  • Pakistan mulling fibre link with neighbours

    Information Technology (IT) Minister Qamar-uz-Zaman Kaira on Wednesday said that the government was mulling over linking Pakistan with China, India, Afghanistan and Iran through fibre optic connection.

    Talking to mediamen here at a license awarding ceremony Kaira said he was in favour of extending the deadline for SIMs registration.

    "The PPP government is also looking into the issue of PTCL employees and the decision will be taken in interest of the employees," he said.

  • PH, Spain ink deal on ICT cooperation

    The Philippines and Spain recently signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) on cooperation in the field of information and communications technology (ICT).

    Representing the Philippines in the signing ceremony was DOST Information and Communications Technology Office (ICTO) executive director Louis Casambre, while Ambassador Jorge Domecq represented Spain’s State Secretariat for Telecommunications and the Information Society of the Ministry of Industry, Energy and Tourism.

    The two countries agreed to cooperate on ICT areas such as, spectrum management, cybersecurity, capacity building, disaster risk reduction and bridging the digital divide.

  • Philippines: 31 municipalities sign e-governance 'covenant'

    Thirty-one municipalities have signed a covenant indicating their commitment to help each other implement e-governance, a representative of a Canadian International Development Agency-funded project said.

    As a result of the "E-governance for Municipal Development (eGov4MD)" project, municipal officials have agreed to share skills and resources in the development of e-governance systems.

    They have also agreed to pool finances to build a community of technical professionals who will assist local government units in implementing e-governance projects.

  • Prime Ministers of Estonia and Japan Hope for Productive Collaboration, above all, in the IT Sector

    Prime Minister Andrus Ansip met today with Japan''''s head of government, Yukio Hatoyama. Both stressed the very good terms the two countries were on as well as the intention to intensify economic collaboration, particularly in the IT and communications technology sectors. The meeting focused mainly on opportunities for collaboration related to public sector e-services.

    Prime Minister Ansip elaborated on both e-voting, e-Tax Board and other more common Internet-based services in Estonia - amongst other things, the popularity of online banking. His Japanese counterpart noted that there was great interest in applications for e-government as well as for the Estonian ID card.

  • Qatar And Singapore Boost ICT Partnership

    Building on the success of previous agreements, the Infocomm Development Authority of Singapore (IDA) and ictQATAR, the Supreme Council of Information & Communications Technology of Qatar today inked the third Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) to boost ICT partnerships between the two states.

    The scope of the MOU will cover areas such as telecommunications, e-health, e-education, e-commerce and e-tourism. Both parties will share experience and knowledge and explore co-operation on projects which will be implemented by both the public and private sectors. This will further accelerate the development and adoption of ICT in both states.

Eine Empfehlung für alle Interessierten: Schauen Sie doch mal ins Portal und informieren sich über das Selbstverständnis, die Zielsetzung, die Projekte und sonstigen Aktivitäten des RegNet. An dem Netzwerk sind heute bereits mehr als 60 Vertreter niedersächsischer Landkreise, Städte und Gemeinden sowie der Städte Bremen und Bremerhaven beteiligt. Angestrebt wird die Intensivierung der Zusammenarbeit im Bereich E-Government. Dabei ist E-Government aber kein Selbstzweck ist, sondern dient vielmehr dazu, Geschäftsprozesse kostengünstiger und bürgerfreundlicher zu gestalten bei gleichzeitiger Verbesserung der Qualität.
  • Renewed ICT collaboration between Brunei and Singapore

    The Authority for Info-communications Technology Industry of Brunei Darussalam (AITI) and Infocomm Development Authority of Singapore (IDA), the government IT agencies of both countries, have renewed their collaboration and technical cooperation on telecommunication regulatory areas.

    The two organisations signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) and Project Addendum (PA) to further leverage on their existing cooperation framework and cover new areas on corporate services and human resource development, postal services, domain name registration and an industrial internship programme for fresh graduates and students undertaking ICT-related diploma courses.
