  • KW: Zain first private company to apply E-Signature service to employees In collaboration with the Public Authority for Civil Information

    Zain, the leading telecommunications company in Kuwait, revealed today that it has applied the E-signature service to its employees in collaboration with the Public Authority for Civil Information. PACI officials were present at the company's main headquarters in Shuwaikh for a period of two weeks to ease the registration process.

    With the latest implementation of the E-Signature project, Zain positions itself as the first private-sector company to launch the E-signature service within the organization. The latest collaboration comes in line with the Kuwaiti government's vision of enabling electronic governmental solutions.

  • KZ: Biometric parameters can replace electronic signatures for receiving some public services

    Chairman of the Board of the State Corporation “Government for Citizens” Ablaykhan Ospanov told about the use of biometrics in new developments of the Public Service Centers at the press conference following the Government meeting.

    According to him, the biometric parameters of Kazakhstanis, which are provided voluntarily, can replace the digital signature when receiving a number of public services.

  • Lithuania's Public Sector chooses E-Lock ProSigner for e-document exchange

    Frontier Technologies Corporation (E-Lock) today announced that its flagship product E-Lock ProSigner would be used by Lithuania's Public Sector for electronically signing documents.

    Lithuania's Information Society Development Committee (IVPK) was responsible for the project. E-Lock's partner in Lithuania - Santa Monica Networks - was instrumental and played a key role in liaising with IVPK, participating in a public tender and eventually delivering the E-Lock solution to public sector institutions via IVPK.

  • LT: Government launches electronic signature

    On 7 September 2011, Lithuanian Prime Minister and Ministers put their first electronic signature on the legal acts passed by the Government, thus making another important step in eSolutions' development in Lithuania and joining the leading European States.

    "I am delighted that Lithuania continues to strengthen its positions as a modern and dynamic state. With the introduction of the electronic signature system and electronic documents, the Government has become an excellent example to the other public and private sector organisations", said Prime Minister Andrius Kubilius during the signing ceremony.

  • LV: eSignature portal offers enhanced method for PIN change

    A new PIN change procedure has recently been introduced on the eSignature portal to enable users to deal with lost or forgotten PINs in a user-friendly manner.

    To change a lost or forgotten PIN, a user is required to go to the 'My Data' section of the eSignature portal and select the 'PIN Change' option. A PIN change confirmation request is then delivered to the email address specified by the user when signing up for an eSignature, thus allowing the creation of a new PIN.

  • LV: eSignature portal provides document sharing tool for multiple eSignature

    As part of an effort to enhance the functionality of the Latvian eSignature portal (eParaksts, in Latvian), a document sharing tool has been made available to the users of the virtual eSignature, the Latvia State Radio and Television Centre (LSRTC) recently announced.

    A person who signed a document electronically with a virtual eSignature now has the opportunity to use the short-term online virtual document storage tool on the eParaksts portal; the document is stored automatically after it has been signed by its author, who can then invite others to sign the document by sending them the link where it is stored, after selecting the desired level of security.

  • LV: Poll shows low eSignature use by citizens when dealing with government bodies

    A recent poll reveals that 6 % of Internet users have employed an electronic signature (eParaksts, in Latvian) in their dealings with state and local government institutions.

    The findings of a public opinion poll carried out by the Sociological Research Centre SKDS show that in the last 12 months, 62 % of Internet users have turned to the web for information about state and local government services. However, the Latvia State Radio and Television Centre (LVRTC) reports that only 6 % have communicated with such government institutions by submitting electronic documents signed with a secure eSignature.

  • LV: Virtual eSignature - Remote application enabled for smart card-based eSignature holders

    The holders of the smart card version of the secure Latvian eSignature (eParaksts) can now apply for a virtual eSignature and receive it from the comfort of their home, the Latvia State Radio and Television Centre (LSRTC) announced on 13 December 2011.

    The virtual eSignature certificate allows one to sign a document electronically on the Latvian eSignature portal www.eparaksts.lv without having to use a smart card. Currently, the virtual eSignature may only be purchased by individuals, but it can be used for signing the documents of legal entities, if an individual has the required signatory rights.

  • LV: Virtual eSignature celebrates first anniversary, eID ready to launch

    1 February 2012 marked the first anniversary of the introduction of the Virtual eSignature (Virtuālais eParaksts, in Latvian). Although the secure eSignature has been available in Latvia since 2006, its provider Latvia State Radio and Television Centre (LVRTC) considers the year 2011 as the turning point where the product became understandable and widely accessible. With the imminent introduction of the eID card, a third safe eSignature carrier will soon be available to the public.

    One year after the introduction of the virtual eSignature, more than 10 000 persons have authenticated online at the eSignature website (www.eparaksts.lv), and there are currently around 5 000 smart card-based eSignature users. The number of smart cards issued has risen to almost twice that of 2010, the majority of the users being authorities and businesses; with the introduction of the virtual eSignature, the number of individuals making use of the smart card has decreased.

Noch keine Entscheidung ist dagegen zur Verknüpfung von digitalem Pass und Personalausweis gefallen.

    Die digitale Signatur als rechtsgültige Unterschrift kann nach Einschätzung der Unternehmensberatung Mummert + Partner bei elektronischen Verwaltungs- und Geschäftsvorgängen bis zu 30 Prozent der Kosten sparen.   • Moldova builds e-government: Mobile digital signature

    Conversations about e-government excellence and best practices usually centre around countries such as Singapore, South Korea, Finland, or the USA. In Eastern Europe, however, the tiny, land-locked Republic of Moldova is making a name for itself in this field. One of the poorest countries in Europe, Moldova (population 3.5 million) is emerging as a great example of public sector modernisation.

    The e-Government Centre (eGC), formed in August 2010, is responsible for the implementation of the e-government agenda of Moldova. FutureGov spoke to several senior officials in the eGC to understand the development and implementation of the major projects underway in Moldova.

  • Nepal introduces digital signature

    Nepal has introduced digital signature with Prime Minister Baburam Bhattarai handing over the symbolic key of digital signature to chief of Office of Certification and Controller (OCC) Rajan Raj Pant amidst a function on Thursday.

    OCC, an agency under the Ministry of Science and Technology (MoST), has the authority to issue digital certificates which contains a public key and identity of the owner.

    Digital signature is an electronic signature produced by Public Key Infrastructure (PKI). It consists of a pair of keys -- private and public. Private key is known to the user only and it helps to encrypt the message which helps to maintain privacy and security of messages or transactions. Similarly, public key which is known to other party, particularly the receiver, is used to decrypt the message.
