That is how much it is costing to put all government services online, eGovernment Authority chief executive officer Mohammed Al Qaed told a Press conference on the eve of Bahrain International eGovernment Forum 2010.

Bahrain ranked fifth in Asia and 26th internationally in e-government development efforts, a UN report has revealed.

According to the 2018 UN E-Government Survey, Bahrain maintained its ranking among countries scoring very high on the E-Government Development Index (EGDI).

Only two Arab countries, Bahrain and the UAE, were among the eight Asian states which ranked among the high performing countries.

Bahrain’s e-government projects are rapidly catching up, especially in government data and on e-government, Bahrain is the top country in Asia, said Sweden’s Former Prime Minister John Fredrik Reinfeldt.

On the sidelines of the inauguration of the eGovernment Forum in Bahrain, held at the Isa Cultural Centre, he said that Bahrain has emerged as a global leader.

Speaking during one of the workshops of the UN public Service Conference 2014 in Korea, he said that Bahrain was ranked 18 globally in the e-Government index, before many European and Asian countries.

Mr. Al-Qaed revealed the launching of a project created in order to serve excellent IT and media graduates as early as the beginning of next year (2013). He told the Arabic-speaking (Al-Ayam) daily newspaper that the new website will be easy to browse and includes many new features with an added feature of privacy.

The forum, organised by the e-Government Authority in partnership and cooperation with the Bahrain Society of Engineers, the Project Management Institute – Arabian Gulf Chapter, Bahrain Branch and Youth Tech, will be held at the Isa Cultural Centre and the Bahrain International Circuit (BIC).

Also, in commemoration of 42nd Anniversary of its accession to UN as a full member and 14th Anniversary of His Majesty King Hamad Bin Isa Al Khalifa's Accession to the Throne, e-Government Authority held a ceremony marking the national occasion with the participation of the Authority’s officials and affiliates.

The event,will be held under the patronage of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Mubarak Al Khalifa, Deputy Prime Minister and the Chairman of the Supreme Committee for Information and Communications Technology (ICT) on April 21-23.

eGovernment authority Vice-CEO Dr Zakareya Ahmed Al Khaja has announced the details of the Government Apps Store which was launched by Kamal bin Ahmed Mohammed, the Minister of Transportation during the opening ceremony of MEET ICT 2013.

The deputy prime minister in cooperation with many other ministries is ensuring that the e-government principles are implemented in the ministries.

The visit, the first of its kind in the world, is a result of the great success of the Civil Service Forum, hosted by the Kingdom in June, 2013, under the auspices of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa, with the participation of over 700 participants from 97 countries.
