The City of Bunbury is the latest Australian city to adopt our SmartPark parking management system, with over 2,000 vehicle detection sensors, a custom branded customer-facing wayfinding & payment app, parking meters and Tessera - our compliance management platform and app, all linked up through our SmartCloud data management platform.

The installation – due in the first quarter of 2022 – will supersede their legacy system, which was an outdated mixture of over a hundred parking machines and manual inspection of vehicles by Parking Officers across ticketed parking areas.

The City of Greater Geelong is a step closer to achieving its Smart City goals, following the endorsement of a 15-year agreement to access 24 kilometres of optical fibre from Corio to East Geelong.

The city has entered into a contract with not-for-profit organisation, AARNet, to install and utilise a high-speed optical fibre network which will form the backbone of the Smart City initiative, and provide community facilities and public spaces with access to ultra-high-speed internet.

Systems integrator NEC Australia has been tapped by property developer Celestino to provide “smart city” technology to its upcoming Sydney Science Park project.

NEC announced it has signed a memorandum of understanding with Celestino to “explore opportunities” to develop the park into “an internationally recognised epicentre for research, development, commercialisation and innovation”.

Smart city boost as 3D spatial cameras scan streetscape.

They may not seem like the most intuitive targets for smart-city technology, but the garbage trucks of Melbourne’s City of Brimbank are getting a high-tech upgrade as Swinburne University researchers test a 5G-connected computer-vision system that will monitor city streets to identify potential damage and maintenance issues.

Lime and Neuron Mobility e-scooters will be rolled out across the cities of Melbourne, Yarra and Port Phillip for one year which could be extended pending the outcome of the trial.

A micromobility trial will see 1,500 e-scooters rolled out across the cities of Melbourne, Yarra and Port Phillip for one year. The pilot programme could be extended depending on the outcome.
