The Kingdom of Sweden confirms it will help Angola accelerate its economic growth through the use of information and communications technologies.

On the sidelines of the Angola-Sweden workshop on "IT and digital economy sectors," Ewa Polano, the Swedish ambassador to Angola, said the two partners will mainly focus on education, finance, transports and the fight against corruption.

The Commission for the Real Economy of the Council of Ministers Thursday, in Luanda, analyzed the National Plan for the Information Society, a document that updates the action plan of the sector, approved in 2006.

At the end of the session, chaired by the Vice - President of the Republic, Manuel Vicente, the State secretary for Information Technology, Pedro Teta, told the press that, among other issues, was made the assessment of the National Plan for the Information Society.

The Northern Cabinda province may have a telemedicine system from 2014, whose project was presented on Thursday by a team of experts in planning and consultation, with the GNV Soluços Seguras, Angop has learnt.

Speaking to the press, the firm's responsible, Rafael Navajo Garrido, highlighted the importance of telemedicine in the world, considering as innovator and that will help the populations in far off areas and improve people living conditions.

Huawei, in partnership with the Angola Ministry of Education and Unitel, has launched phase two of E-Net, a project to connect schools in Angola.

“The objective of this project is to promote bridging of digital divide among Angola youth, at the same time enhancing research and development in ICT leading to localized innovations.’ Said Mr. Leon Liu, Director at Huawei Technologies Angola Representative office. He added that Huawei was committed to collaborate with local partners such as the government and Unitel to advance Angola as knowledge based economy.

The 4th Broad Consultative Council on Information and Communication Technologies held in northern Uige province from March 21-22, recommended the boosting of programmes of massification of the information and communication technologies around the country.

The recommendation is contained in the meeting's final communiqué that reached Angop on Saturday.

Addressing the closing of the event, minister José Carvalho da Rocha urged the participants to fulfil the conclusions and recommendations from the Consultative Council.
